Paradox_of_Theseus Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Hey guys, I had this issue before and no one knew what to do at the time. It kinda stalled out my old game and its starting to stall this one out. I'm stuck at the "Night to Remember" quest. Specifically, Sanguine shows up at the Bannered Mare, we have a drinking contest, he says I don't look so good, and when its supposed to transition to Dibella's Temple....nothing happens. Any suggestions on what I can do? I suspect it either has to do with Sanguine's Debauchery or Sisterhood of Dibella, but I don't really want to disable either of those mods.
Alpia Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Well it should work with both of these mods since they don't change the quest itself at this point. For your problem the quest id is DA14 Now knowing the ID type in your console player.sqs DA14 now you will get a list showing the stages it should kinda look like StageXX : 0 or StageXX : 1 in this case 1 after the stage means you have done this step 0 means you havent done this step. So to fix your problem you have to look for the next stage with a 0 if you have that type in your console: setstage DA14 XXX <---- The stage with the 0 This will set you one stage forward and not complete the whole quest you can do one step forward until you are in dibella temple and skip that not working part with this method. If you don't have DA14 it might also be DA14Start just do the same steps and jumping to the last step will end your quest, but you should not end quests with just jumping to the end since the following quest if there is any might not start so only jump to the step before the end if possible and as allways make a new save.
Paradox_of_Theseus Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Thanks Chasm. I'm doing what you suggested but must be missing something. When I type in player.sqs da14, it looks like the following: Stage 0: 0 Stage 5: 0 Stage 10: 0 Stage 20: 0 ect... So then I type in "setstage da14 0" and nothing happens. I figure I'm missing something right?
DeepBlueFrog Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Take a look at the stages at the end of this page: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:A_Night_To_Remember The stage for waking up in the temple is stage 5. I don't know if that includes the teleport, so you may have to go there manually (in the console: coc MarkarthTempleofDibella). I can say for sure that neither SD+ nor The Sisterhood of Dibella are touching that quest.

Also not all stages have a noticable effect just type in stage by stage Also thanks to skymill you can see you first have to start with DA14start the DA14 quest is allready the quest in the temple so don't use DA14 You can also start the quest via console with typing in "startquest DA14start"

When Sam says, "you don't look so good" the quest completes and I am just left standing at the Bannered Mare. I will try talking to Sam, but not completing the quest and see what happens. I was also looking around at potential bugs and apparently an older bug in the vanilla version of Skyrim revolved around one of the NPC's for this quest dieing. It was patched to make these NPC's essential, but I'm wondering if one of my mods has made them non-essential and they have gotten killed via Vampires or something. The only reason I am considering this is that I know I have had issues making my own character Essential when using mods like Death Alternative in which I still constantly die despire marking myself as Essential. I believe this has to do with some of the bleeding states in SkyRe and potentially with Locational Damage as well. Anyways, long story short, I'm going to see if any of the NPC's are dead first and see if that is the reason for the false-start.
Paradox_of_Theseus Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 Well I'm back. I got frustrated and "re-rolled" thinking that might help. Well I'm actually worse off than before. Here's the rundown. Sam Guevenne won't even appear now. So here is where I'm at... -At level 17 I decided to hunt for Sam. I couldn't find him at any Inn. -I used the console command to move to him. He's residing in Windpeak Inn (Dawnstar), or more specifically an alternate reality Windpeak because if I hit M to bring up the Map the game crashes, the door to leave doesn't go anywhere, and there are no NPC's except a Ghost of Deneris and Sam. -Sam automatically starts the Drinking Game -Upon completion of the Drinking Game he tells me I don't look so good, but the next stage does not trigger (just like before) -Upon typing "player.sqs da14start" I get stages 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, & 70 all set to 1. -Upon typing "player.sqs da14" I get stages 0, 5, 10, 20, ect...all set to 0 -Typing "Startquest da14" does not do anything -Typing "setstage da14 0" does not do anything -Typing "setstage da14 5" does not do anything -I used the console command to move to the 3 major actors in the quest (Senna, Ennis, and Ysolda) and all are alive So now I am totally stumped. I have to assume that some mod is blocking the activation of this quest since this has been occuring across all my games. Its only frustrating because other things rely on the quest "A Night to Remember" being completed. Specifically, I am referencing Angrim's Assistant. However, now that I think about it, maybe I should just try to use console commands to advance past the A Night to Remember requirement...assuming that is how the mod is designed. Any thoughts?
PsychoMachina Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 This may or may not be the cause of your problem, but just in case, are you using USKP? If so, is it up to date? If so, you may need to roll back to an earlier version. The reason I'm saying this is because when I updated USKP to v19.2.0.0a, I could not complete the quest. When Sanguine gives me the staff and about to transport me back to the Bannered Mare, the game would consistantly CTD. Updating USKP to 19.2.0.2a did not fixed it, but reverting back to v19.1.3.2c did fix the problem. I have not check with the latest USKP.

I just checked the changelog (I have version 2.0.4a and the current version is 2.0.7) and as of 2.0.4 they were referencing fixes with the A Night to Remember quest, but they involved later parts of the quest so I have to assume that if USKP was the culprit then I would at least be able to start it. =/
Paradox_of_Theseus Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 So I think I might have another clue in the puzzle here. I've noticed that other radiant quests are no longer functioning either. It might be a reason Sam hasn't spawned at an Inn like he's supposed to. I also noticed that Radiant Prostitution gives an error message (confirmed due to a conflict with Apropos's JContainer 3.1), but also other radiant events are working like nothing in Animal Mansion as well as no standard "Looking for Work" missions appearing from Innkeepers, or the Meridia Beacon not showing up in any treasure chest. Could that be the cause of the conflict?
