Ballad of the Beloved Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Im trying to edit a warpaint (nothing fancy, just erasing a bit I dont like) for one of my characters and im having some troubles with the bsa file. It unpacks fine, the texture edits fine (using gimp). The problem arises when I repack the bsa. The file size ends up being absolutely massive (up to 100 mbfrom a 20 mb file) and the war-paints no longer show up in game. If it helps, I dont toggle anything in gimp, I just let it to what it automatically is set to do (automatic compression and the like). The warpaint is from the battle hardened set. Kinda stumped, help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
myuhinny Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 You could just extract the texture file/files that you need from the BSA and once modified to what you want look at the texture path in the BSA to find out what the pathway is for the texture files/file and then make the folder paths in your skyrim directory and place the file/files there. No need to put them back into the BSA after modification as texture files outside of the BSA will override the texture files in the BSA so your modified ones will be the files/file that win as lose files will always override files in a BSA. Whenever you modify a texture file it will increase in size and the more you modify it the bigger it can get.
Ballad of the Beloved Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 Well that makes things a lot easier, I wasnt aware that you didnt have to stick it back in the bsa! Thank you very much!
