Guest lemmy Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Dumb question: wouldn't it be possible to create sitting animations, that is, sitting on furniture like chairs or benches? Or is that not possible, because there is no way to integrate that into the framework? Would be nice though, since more furniture could be used for animatios, instead of always using the dirty ground. I cannot create animations, so I just ask out of curiosity.
afa Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Animation including prop isn't impossible, the pillory animation already does that. Now animations that is able to scan and know that there's a chair over there and align the actors on top of it...not sure...
Content Consumer Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Are any of these similar to what you're looking for? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15674/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/42656/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16248/? Or was it sexual content you're looking for? Like sex on a chair?
RDKateran Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Niruins' Business Plan has a chair sex animation, IIRC.
Guest lemmy Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 The latter one, sex on a chair. Since the node of a bed can be found, I thought that should be possible. But that would need to be integrated into the Framework, I guess, or does the one from "Niruins' Business Plan" work with Sexlab?
Damoriva Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 One minor problem, there are way more chairs than beds, and most of the chairs are sitting at tables, so you'd get clipping issues. Any chair animations would probably end up doing what the pillory ones do and just summon a chair from hammerspace.
Content Consumer Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 That's true, I hadn't thought about that. What about those table+bench models? That's a single object, right, not two? There might be something there that can be used... And even then, there may be other objects nearby (not to mention sitting on the table) that would cause clipping. "Yeah, I laid her down on the table, ready to bang her hard, and next thing I know she died instantly, killed by a goblet shoved straight through her head. I would've been alarmed, but I had my own problems - my legs had molecularly fused with a barrel someone put just behind the bench. Had to get them removed before the great god Havok came along and punted me through a wall."
Kuロi Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 It's not exactly as simple as "well it works with beds". The thing about beds is that they act exactly like on the floor, except you're on a bed. Meaning you don't have to filter animations. A chair would work differently, since it would have it's own animations. At best, an author would have to create animations with a chair that summons a chair, or a mod to go with it that adds various chairs in the game that trigger said animation, kinda like Prison Overhaul uses pillories.
Damoriva Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 or a mod to go with it that adds various chairs in the game that trigger said animation, kinda like Prison Overhaul uses pillories. And now I want to see "trap" chairs. Need a short break while going through your 1200th draugr burial ground? Oh, that looks like a nice throne to rest my feet. Suddenly ancient draugr shit activates and you're strapped into a chair getting fucked for several hours (or seconds, depending on how long you want the animation to run).

T'would be an interesting trap though. You know, I used to be scared of sitting in thrones and the like in dungeons. I thought "They can't have put it for nothing, there's gonna be a spike/explosion blowing off at me once I sit there" Turns out they really are there for nothing other than taking silly screen shots of all the forgotten thrones I've claimed.
Grimbold the unlovely Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 An alternative to chairs would be armourer's tables. The way the ladies lean over them, hammers In hand, is so . . . inviting. You could also have a new sexlab dialogue line: "You're a smith, aren't you? Hammer this." Alchemy and enchanting tables also have potential.
Adam Jensen Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I think more animations with furniture in general would be great.
Content Consumer Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I agree, more furniture anims would be great, but we're still running into the same problem of using vanilla furniture or making furniture on-the-fly for the animation. The problem with vanilla furniture is that it is frequently placed in such a way to make animations difficult. Something like an armorer's table should be fine to try to animate on, since it must always be oriented a specific way with a space available for the player to access... but things like tables, benches, etc may be placed in such a way as to cause clipping during animations. Especially when you get things like food placed on a table or something. The only foolproof alternative is to make your own furniture that looks identical to vanilla, and put it in a new cell so it can be controlled. Assuming the player doesn't move objects around on his own. The only other real way to do it is to go through each individual cell in the game and specifically move or alter the positions of every single item that may or may not be clipping through the desired animation, and I am WAY to lazy to even contemplate such a task.

Not to mention how much it might fuck with other addons.
