Skyrim won't start

I'll try to be brief, a few weeks ago my PC for some reason died, I had to reinstall everything and redownload games etc...

So today I finished converting the armor and clothings I downloaded to Sevenbase, installed FNIS manually (I usually use Mod Organizer but FNIS wasn't working through it). Now I try to start the game (and yes I ran FNIS through MO first), I selected skse and the game just goes to the logo and crashes. If I start it from Steam with 0 mods active, it does the same thing. I set the compatibility to Windows 8, I run it as administrator (Skyrim and skse), Direct X is installed, but I get the same thing, what could I be overlooking?

Did you check the plugins in the right window in MO? I normally got the crash on the logo when I missed an esp-file. Are they all checked and with no warning sign?

If all required esp-files are there, use the sort function and see if it helps.

You can hover your cursor over the the esp and see if you are missing a Master for one of the plugins.

(but they normally have the warning sign in the list, if they are missing a Master file)

If everything is ok there, then I would recommend Germanicus' suggestion for a quick try. After that, turning off mods one by one and seeing when the crashes stop is the only solution I can think of.

Check the profile in your MO folder. There should be a file named skyrimprefs.ini

There should be a line: bFull Screen=1

If the value isn't 1, change it, save and try again.

When you are in game and the window is active, did you try ALT+Enter?

That normally switches the game to full screen as well.

I was going to suggest that the issue might be a missing master file for a mod you've loaded because that often is the cause of CTD on game startup. But, after rereading your original post again, I caught this: "If I start it from Steam with 0 mods active, it does the same thing." It's possible that your installation of Skyrim is hosed. Try this:

Launch Steam, right click on Skyrim and choose Properties. Go to the Local Files tab and click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" and let it do it's thing. If it finds a problem with your Skyrim installation, it will download and replace the hosed files. Then you absolutely MUST launch Skyrim once from Steam and get it to load the game (I suggest that you do this with NO mods installed). Otherwise mods like FNIS will complain of an illegal installation. This takes care of that problem. If the game doesn't CTD at this point. Then try running it from SKSE with no mods installed. If you don't get a crash at this point, start adding your mods in. To keep your load order optimised, I suggest that you run LOOT with the addition of each mod or group of mods. If you don't have it you can get it here: http://loot.github.io/. Hope this helps!

Yeah MOs ini editor has bFull Screen=1 set , as well as the dimensions under it are set properly. I knew there was a button press to switch the game to fullscreen, I just couldn't remember it (or oddly fin it on google). Thanks, I'm going to give that a try
