Load Order

I reinstalled Skyrim and all the mods I had for it and now I think that the load order is a bit wrong. I ran BOSS but that only works to a point so I am hoping that someone will be able to point out a few problems with my order

A couple of things I noticed:

 

- I've never used Wyrmstooth, so I don't know if it's meant to be this way, but it's shown there as an esp and you have it in amongst your esm's.

 

- Getting the unofficial patches might be a good idea. They're not essential but they can greatly help.

 

- You have the Frostfall patch for SD+ active but, unless I missed it, don't have Frostfall. That has been known to cause problems. Deactivate that patch.

 

If you're going to use software to help with your load order, use LOOT instead. It's basically the successor to BOSS and is more up to date. That being said, I personally don't use either of them. Every time I've tried I find my game isn't as smooth as with a manual load order. I tend to keep all my mods in groups. I start with gameplay and graphical mods, then NPCs and followers, followed by armours, clothing, accessories and weapons, then animations and bodies/hairs/character textures, then adult mods at the bottom. I have the same grouping in the same order with my esm's. I also use mod organizer. A bit of a learning curve but it's fantastic, and you can see at a glance if there's anything specifically wrong with your order.

 

But that's all just preference. Go with whatever works for you

Ah thank you! The last time I asked about how to set your load order without using BOSS the post got deleted that helps a lot. I will try your suggestions and ya I didn't catch the frostfall thing

With Devious Devices, put Assets above Integration and Expansion. It's required for both of those so needs to be loaded first. Couldn't see anything else obvious.

 

When is the CTD? At the main menu before you get a chance to start a game or load a save? If so that's likely a missing master/dependency, which could well be the DD thing.

Well hopefully the DD thing will help. There are lots of mods in there I'm not familiar with, so I don't know what they might require. Perhaps someone else can weigh in?

 

Only other thing that just popped out at me is the nude creatures/more nasty critters stuff. Double check the more nasty critters page, but I think you should have:

Something just came to me coz it keeps CTD....when I reinstalled Skyrim I am wondering if I should have taken everything out of the data file after the uninstall in case there were some files in there that shouldn't be and are now messing with the mods I put back in

If you are getting a CTD before the load menu then you are missing a master for a mod somewhere. Use either Wrye Bash or TES5Edit to pinpoint the mod you are missing.

Not before the load menu but when its done loading and I get maybe a couple of seconds into the game before it CTD

There are a few things in your load order that stand out as being a little odd to me. Download and run LOOT to fix them. It's the replacement for BOSS which hasn't been updated in quite a while. That may help you out. http://loot.github.io/

 

I did notice that all the More Nasty Critter esps are there, but in a really strange order. And like Mord Sif already recommended, the Unofficial patches really hammer out some annoying little bugs. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19 this is the link for the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, it has links to the others in the series. Hugely recommend them.

I am now thinking after looking over some of the mods that there might be one that have to be at the bottom of the load order or it CTD like crimson tide so I'm checking them one by one to see which

Do you use NMM? Highlight each mod and look to the right, there you will find whether there are any masters you might have missed.

 

CTDs are usually a good indication that your mods that require masters and out of place.

Ok so I have done everything that people have told me to do execpt that when i use LOOT it's like it picks up my load order and plays fifty two pick up with them so I went in and did it by hand. Now I can load up the game but only get about a minute or so into the game before CTD. Could this still be load order or is something pushing the game over what it can take?
