Coopervane Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I could vax lyrical for a good long while about how to improve Vampires, and what i'd love to see, but in the end, i woulden't play that mod, because to do what it would have to do, it'd be so script heavy that i'm not sure i could play it on it's own, let alone with my other usual selection of mods. Papyrus sucks, that's just the reallity of it, and it is why i'm not using Vampiric Thirst or Better vampires. They are great mods and i wish i was using them, but the cost to Papyrus is too high, i can't run them stably along side the other mods i considder essential for play. So at this point, i'm willing to settle for anything, anything at all, that could even marginally improve Vampirism in this game with no significant Papyrus traffic. Not much could be done without hitting Papyrus hard, so it'd be small changes at best, but hey, any improvement is infact an improvement, so i'd take it if it was out there.
FauxFurry Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Guns. Lots of guns. How else am I going to recreate the Hellsing Experience in Skyrim?
Guest Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 The vampire has to suck blood regularly or face some consequences for "starving", trick people to escape attention, has vampirism-related ability when push comes to shove, and NOT sparkle. In so far for me, Vampire Thrist did quite a good job with that. Appearance wise I prefer them without the sunken-cheeks and non-glowing eyes (seriously, why bethesda put that eyes in Dawnguard?) Oh, and I'd kill for new animation for feeding.
Mebrilia Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Morrowind had a nice vampire System... Different clans with different powers.. And also a pretty cute background skyrim vampires are just meh... Both in powers and attitude...

Oh, and I'd kill for new animation for feeding. It annoys me that modern vampire lore have become so cheesy. When I have never felt the need to play as a vampire I understand that Skyrim vampires can pretty much get along fine NOT feeding. That is wrong, I would like a feed or starve approach and that should be true for Serana as well. Once she goes out of torpor when we find her she should be HUNGRY!!! Valerica has been awake for thousands of years but at least in her case the Soul Cairns properties could be used as an excuse for why she has been able to do without feeding. However feeding should not necessarily require killing but always entail the risk of that. Especially when a starved vampire feeds. The safest way to keep a vampire going would probably be to have some willing blood donors that are fed on regularly. The more often a vampire feeds, the safer it would be due to smaller risk of loosing control and taking to much. This however require more donors. Finding willing donors are however not an easy task so it make sense for vampires to take care of their assets and guard them jealously from the competition. Some families just have this secret tradition of giving blood to a vampire that shows up regularly, in return the vampire cares about their well being. What they do in castle Volkhair, using "human cattle" is not an acceptable way to go. I would say that a lot of the vampire hunters in the world are, knowingly or not hired by vampires to eliminate troublemakers.
enkephalin07 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I think all the paradigms and metaphors vampires could represent have already been exhausted in media, and all that's left are brazen idols signifying nothing, a big clique of self-worshiping Mary Sues. No one has done vampires as well as White Wolf, and I don't expect anyone to, but a good vampire mod could take a page out of their book, at least. One thing Dawnguard attempted that WoD did was a balance between vampires and hunters, so each given equal character development potential, each are equally viable character builds, balanced in gameplay. It was just too short and too shallow. It didn't add the diversity Morrowind had; now you just have a choice of vampire, or vampire with slightly more power and characterization.
