Guest mercury11 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 So here's the story: I've had Windows 8.1 pro on my PC for about a year now (it's a legit copy with a product key) I turn on my PC this morning and it tells me I need to activate Windows. I go to the activation page, I see my activation key in all X's with the last four digits displayed, which match the numbers on my activation key. So I hit activate and it say that Windows cannot be activated at this time, please try again later. Has anyone else with Windows 8 encounter this problem?
sorsharavenwing Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Have you made any significant hardware changes to your computer recently? Replaced hard drive or system board? If so you need to activate Windows again, but you have to do it by phone.

I might call Microsoft support to see what they say.
gregathit Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Call Microsoft Support. Only they can help with something like this. Thread Locked.
