Is there a Portable Container mod?

Is there any mod that adds backpacks that functions like storage chests? The emphasis is that it must function as a portable container.

I'm roleplaying a nomadic character that doesn't settle down in a house, e.g. foreign-born traveling mercenary, etc. The idea is for the character to put most of their daily non-essentials in this portable container. When it's time to move onto the next town, they put this container into their inventory for the move. Then when they arrive at the next place they'll be staying for a while, it's a simple matter of removing the portable storage from their inventory.

Kind of like plopping down their travel bags at the inn they'll be staying at.

What doesn't count:

-Backpack mods that simply increase carrying capacity. They don't function like portable containers. If the bags are dropped, the character would simply become overencumbered as all other items remain in inventory.

-Bags that teleport to a location for storage (e.g. Haven Bags, Dwemer Jars). These are more like magical items and don't jive with the roleplay I'm going for.

Storage Helpers over on nexus might be close to what you are looking for.

I haven't tried the wearable container stuff in the newer versions yet myself, but it's great for storage on demand stuff at the very least.

Quote from the description:

Decorate your home and organize your cluttered inventory. With Storage Helpers you can:

    • move, rotate, and resize almost any object in the game (requires SKSE);

    • craft pouches, chests, sacks, barrels to place anywhere you want them;

    • turn bandoliers, pouches, and backpacks into real wearable containers;

    • put multiple items into a container with a single click (requires SkyUI).

There are two files, one for HearthFires users and one for those who don't have that DLC.

I used Craftable Storage to create placeable chests, then drop where I want them, and when I need to move, use a special pickaxe to take them.

This did exactly what I was looking for. Learning curve is higher since it takes some reading to understand how to use it, but it is great.

It even changes the weight of the container to make it realistic. Awesome find, thanks.

Please read my last line about "What doesn't count".

Anyway, Storage Helpers has been fantastic. After having played with it for a good while, I can confirm it does exactly what I was looking for. It actually does a lot more than what I need, but ignoring the other functions takes no effort.

Only thing to note when using it with equippable items (e.g. knapsacks) is there is one small quirk. After you finish using the item as a container, you need to wait a few seconds as the item may be equipped/unequipped. If you attempt to store the knapsack away during this interval, it can cause some bugs with duplicating the item, which causes problems with the item's storage function.
