leonChameleon Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 HI! First of all, a special thank you to the mods here, whose installation guides for sexout made modding a possibility for a newb such as myself. My question is regarding FOMM. If I download a file, then immediately open FOMM and add it as a FOMod using package manager, will FOMM move the texture, sound, etc files to the directory? Or does FOMM only concern itself with .esp and .esm files? Also, should files that come compressed be extracted before installation? Or is it enough to simply open the files with 7zip and move them from there?
prideslayer Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Adding a package in FOMM is not the same thing as activating a package. Adding it does nothing except copy the file into FOMMs private directory, to allow you to activate/deactivate it. None of them need extracted, generally. FOMM can add .fomod files and .zip (or 7z, etc) files equally well.
RitualClarity Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Yes as Pride stated. Don't need to worry yourself about the packing of the mods unless the mod author states otherwise. ( of course read the mod description and such for each mod) Use the mods as they are given. Import them into the package manager of FOMM and then select activate and the files will be installed into your directory. You should even be able to see this process as it happens if you have your FNV Data folder open .. There will be times that a mod is distributed as an esp or esm. Those can be placed directly into the data folder however it is advised that you use a compression program like 7zip or even windows send to compressed folder option then have FOMM's package manager import it into FOMM and then use the activate button. This way it is easier to activate, deactivate etc. You can keep different versions of mods there as well. It makes the installation and management of mods and their "resources" easier
leonChameleon Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Very helpful and thank you for the quick replies!
RitualClarity Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 You were lucky .. Pride is usually talking in binary ... you caught him on a rare movement.. On a serious note. This site might be full of various "perversions" however the members are very kind, open minded and helpful. If you have questions post away. There is usually a member here that will help.
