Dotts Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 it is a bit of a strange problem. i'm kinda pressed for time at the moment, but i will upload a screenshot of this issue at a later time. i guess i'll just explain the details as best i could. i recently switched body textures. i ended up using one i found on here (you know, the one with the freckles? i'm crazy about freckles). problem is that the texture looks kinda blocky... like the skin i made out of many squares. this only happens when i'm zoomed out a lot. when i'm really close to the texture it looks perfect:heart: so that is good. anyways, my question is, would any one know why exactly this happens? i haven't had a problem with the original CBBE v3 textures, so it strikes me as odd.
shedidwhat Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Well tell what you did so when others have the same problem and come to your post they can do what you did to fix it.
Dotts Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 Well tell what you did so when others have the same problem and come to your post they can do what you did to fix it. well i was playing around with the texture sizes, taking them down from 4096 to 2048 nothing happened, so i realized that my issue was with the Normal Maps that came with the new texture. i decided to flush my female textures folder and re-install the standard CBBEv3 slim textures. after that i just replaced femalebody_1.dss from CBBEv3 with the new texture without replacing the normal Maps as well. it works great and finally the freckles are awesome and clear. the downside is that the pubic hair isn't covered in the normal map so it looks flat, but i might just make my own normal map and see if that becomes a more final solution.
galgat Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I have tried to point out for a long time that High res textures alone do not really improve automatically your overall visual of a game. think about it you have a 4096 pixel X 4096 pixel texture being placed on a shoe or leg in a screen that might only be 1600 X 1200 in a place on that screen where it only takes up and area about the size of a small ICON on you desktop.. do you really think the FPS and image are improved, even if you zoomed in all the way on the shoe in a screen that size or even a 1900 or go 3000 screen you still will never see all the pixels wasted on that texture. I think quality is far more important. and as to bump maps or normal maps they can be really small and give the same quality.
