Something has made New Vegas unplayable.

So, I recently installed Frozen World and Nuclear Winter camos, but I noticed it causes some issues and I uninstalled it.

Now, I'm encountering a severe problem and I have no idea how to fix it.

The game plays fine for a couple minutes, but soon I end up not being able to talk to NPC's, or even pause my game. Some guns suddenly appear pink in my Pip-Boy instead of showing the vault boy holding it, and when I pull them out they are giant exclamation marks.

If anyone can help, I'd rather not have to do a reinstall.

pink squares in pipboy...

sounds like you screwed something up. the last time i had such situations were when:

- i just had too many mods active (grafics freaked out with pink squares in loadingscreens, pipboy icons and all those kinds of nightmare wallpapers)

or:

- i tried to kill a mod the easy way one time too often and forgot about esm and esp and so on... or when i tried the early beginning stages of TTW

 

stutter after some minutes? are you using stutterremover with a newer version of nvse extender? i saw you installed sexout mods, thats why i'm thinking about this one too

i had made an update to the nvse -extender.dll and had 15 minutes game play and it all went down to like ... 3 - 5 frames after that time... had to rollback and it worked again, somehow. dont know if theres already a newer version out now, hadnt much time to take a look the last past weeks, hospital networks are too damn slow sometimes

all in all, im afraid to say, a fresh install would not be the worst thing to do, keep a backup of the fresh one if something happens in future times, and copy mod after mod to the backup if they work, to keep it up to date.. its some work, but at least it will safe you a little time when the game decides to go crazy again.

 

but first try to disable some mods and see if that helps. if so, try to merge some of the weapon mods. and check your graficscard for heating problems, thats all i can imagine right now, i hope something of this is helpful

Don't just deactivate mods.  Uninstall them.  Inactive mods still count towards your mod limit.

 

Do a search for "mod limit" and you'll probably find another post that talks about how to combine mods into one mod so that you can remove their individual esps.

The New Vegas engine can only have 129 plugins - including the base game ESMs - in the data directory.  Every plugin over that then has it's information written into memory addresses for other plugins, starting with the first plugin - which is NV itself.  Even if a mod is in your data directory but not activated, it still counts towards this limit.  You have 183 plugins.

 

So get rid of all the files you're not using, and then get rid of more.

Well, I tried getting rid of a fuckton of mods, and various other things, and nothing. Now it even says it's missing a master file when I've checked top to bottom of my mods looking for what it is missing, and it isn't even listing which master file I need.

So, fresh install it is. Thanks for the help, but I think I've gone beyond repair.
