Galmar calls me a foreigner?

Okay, so I've been having this minor annoyance ever since I first loaded Skyrim on PC.  Galmar always asks me "Why does a foreigner want to fight for Skyrim?"  Well, I'm a Nord every single time.  Thinking that it was some hiccup with being a werewolf, this game I went straight to the Stormcloaks without stopping at the Companions first. . . and he STILL calls me a foreigner.  What's up with that?

The story starts with you getting caught crossing the border. ;)..

Even if you were German of German heritage and went to Germany they still would say welcome home but treat you as a foreigner because you weren't born there. Dont share the same experiences. It was really the best Bethesda could do with limited space and time. Making different conversations for each race as well as male and female is a bit much for a video game, so they tried to make conversations that could be as universal as possible.

AKA lazy...

It doesn't take that much more effort to write conditional text. This is a major reason people hate Skyrim, because people treat you the same regardless of situation.

Altmer in Windhelm? Random dude "I hate Elves", you then talk to him "Hello Dragonborn" Wait, a moment ago you were commenting on elves but somehow you don't notice I am an elf... /sigh

Yeah. . . I was overall underwhelmed with console Skyrim after playing Dragon Age:  Origins.  Not only are the NPCs a lot more vivid, alive, and well-developed, the story actually changed fairly significantly depending on which race and background you chose.  It was still the same basic story, but there was a lot more interaction between your background and the people around you than "Hey, you are an elf."

dragon age has better dialogue.. (Bioware) No wonder. That company can do a pretty good job with dialogue. Listening to their customers not so much ( Mass Effect).

Yea it is lazy. however in this case I think it is more a short cut to get it out / done. They can continue with their laziness if they clean up their messes before releasing their mods.. ( clean their masters.. really it isn't that hard. Should be even easier since you created it)

Yes it can be done and done well. Bethesda isn't one to do it though.

Hey hey, blame EA not bioware.

In the end it is the corporations responsibility to make sure their product is the best it can be and make sure they have the right people in place to make sure that happens. If there are individuals that aren't working out EA is just as responsible and the team at Bioware. Anyway. back to the topic.

Bethesda can and should invest more time in conversations. They try to cut corners and for the most part the fan base loves their product they give. That being the case.. don't think they will change anytime soon.
