Shut Down on Startup

So, I seem to be having some issue with Skyrim. If I use the safe load mod, I can load the game up just fine. But I have to uninstall and reinstall it every time to get it to work. On top of that, my game randomly CTDs. Not super often, but at weird times. Like upon opening the map. Or just randomly. No hanging. Just CTD.

 

I had an issue minutes ago about with my game not even starting, CTD on startup. This happened after I tried to switch my main body type from Lady Body to CBBE and UNP, in that order. It worked with CBBE, but I had purple missing textures. So I tried it with UNP. Still worked, still got purple textures. So then I decided welp, lets go back to lady body. Uninstalled the UNP stuff, put lady body, lady body advanced textures, and Lady Head back in.

 

I fixed it by using the Skyproc patcher. No idea why that fixed it, but it did. But I'd still like to figure out what's causing these other issues. Any ideas?

Purple textures mean missing/incorrectly placed texture files. If you are using a custom race the texture files have to be placed in your custom races folder. Skyrim randomly CTDs is pretty common for the game that is why it is a good idea to use the hard save option from time to time to a good save file and it will also help if you ever have to go back to a old save as quick save overwrites the original save and if it goes bad you will be back to square 1 as you will not have a save to go back to.

Well if you're running reproccer for compatibility issues for SkyRedone, then you have to run it everytime you uninstall something that is a master from the esp plugin. Perhaps you uninstall a few armor mods that was included as a master because it is needed to calculated new values for SkyRE.

 

Also, you should be using Skyrim Startup Memory Editor or SSME. it is downloadable on the nexus. It is essentially the superior version of safety load. You can use both, but SSME should be the only thing you need.

Also, and this is new, Vilja is freezing on me. In her initial quest, outside of Honesymeade Meadery, instant CTD. Must be a mod conflict, but i cant figure out what. Thought maybe it was Bathing Beauties (which incidentally was the master file linked with a lady body mod causing issues) but it wasn;t.

Download TES5 Edit. It will test your load order by compiling the references and masters from every plugin that you have installed. In addition, it has a cleaning tool that will clean dirty edits from your mods (mainly the Bethesda files).

 

Check out the video by Gopher, just search TES5 Edit Gopher. It is a very good tutorial on how to clean your mods which might prevent CTD and improve stability. 

 

IMPORTANT, you can't install SSME through NMM. Open up the file and jump the two files straight with your TESV.exe and run Skyrim. It will work if a small SSME document file appear in the same location.
