How do mods work?

Suppose I download a mod,

Let's say for example this one.

How do I make it work next? How do I get the items that were made available from this mod?

Steam or non-steam?

Each MOD has his own way, so read the instructions that com with the mod description for goal, activation and use in-game.

 

For that one, after the installation and activation, just go (in-game) to an anvil and craft the items there under the right category.

You must first promise your first born to Sheson (don't ask). Then you must donate a liver to the nearest hospital and then make a pentalpha out of mosquito blood and say the right words. From then on every mod you install will be installed correctly.

I advise you to use ModOrganizer (short MO). It makes installing and handling mods as easy as clicking on nexus "install by manager" or dropping the files into MO.

mods come in 4 broad catagories:

 

-change gameplay from the original (i.e. mods that add magic spells, change combat, dragon fights)

 

-add weapons and armor ( armor mods, swords from other games, guns)

 

-fix bugs (Unofficial Skyrim patch)

 

-add people/followers/Locations (Vilja, interesting npcs, Falskaar)

 

the real question you want to ask yourself should be "how deep do i want to go?"

 

For that armor mod, you will need caliente's cbbe body mod that changes female bodies in order to fit in them, and a BBP skeleton to allow the boobs to bounce(either XPMS or CSHBC), for basics. If you want your girls to look prettier, look up texture mods to cover the cbbe body. Each of those mods has its own requirements to instal prior to it.

 

Also, as kimbale said before, get MO, it makes life easier. And always remember this rule: instal 3 mods, TEST FOR CTD, repeat.
