TheTraveler Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Waiting until the CK gets released and there are mods made with it before i go mod crazy on my skyrim?
abovewolf Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 No....there are 2 guys in Scandinavia also. Hang in there, mate! Seriously tho, the mods are great, don't wait....dive in with us!
neobunny Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I would have gotten very bored of skyrim by now if I didnt have sexy armors and bodies to look at in game. And those dont really require CK in first place, unless you reaaaally want every new armor put in a chest in the middle of the woods somewhere to find. For now I'm happy enough to use console commands or forge them if the option has been given.
Tivoko Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Honestly with the tools that are out there now you don't need to wait for the CK to start modding. The mods that have been created thus far work, and personally I like being able to craft armor instead of finding it in a chest somewhere.
prideslayer Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Not waiting on the CK, but on a mature "FO"MM. No mods without a manager, and "no thanks" on the nexus manager.
TheTraveler Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Yea, I meant it more as an 'I'm waiting on a mod manager to do this properly so i dont hav to reinstall like i did with oblivion more times than i care to admit'.
Blackbryre Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 There's a version of Wrye Bash out for Skyrim titled "Wrye Smash." It came out only weeks after Skyrim's release, and it's worked like a charm ever since. I haven't tried any of the advanced features like face transplantation, but for my limited understanding of the program, it painlessly install/uninstalls texture and mesh mods flawlessly. You can find it on the Nexus.
cyanure Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I am using Wrye Bash(a version that handle Oblivion,Fallout3,New Vegas and Skyrim) and so far,no problems to handle the mods,it handle the save and profiles of my characters too(including themods by Characters),I have not yet searched for the advanced features too
TheTraveler Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 i could never get wyre bash to work. it would always blackscreen then CTD
Glugg Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I haven't gone too mod crazy yet, but that's mostly because there haven't been too many mods I'm really interested in. I'm not sure how much the CK will change things, though I'm guessing it'll give mod makers/users more flexibility. I'm also kinda-sorta hoping for a Skyrim version of OBMM. Admittedly, the Nexus manager has been working well enough, but I'm not sure I like the idea of a proprietary program tied to Nexus. Of course, if I were smart, I'd steel myself and finally learn how to use Bash, but frankly it all seems a bit intimidating, lol.
gregathit Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 i could never get wyre bash to work. it would always blackscreen then CTD Did you have python installed? Also use version 295-5 and NOT the alpha 3K version!!!
cyanure Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I haven't gone too mod crazy yetI'd steel myself and finally learn how to use Bash' date=' but frankly it all seems a bit intimidating, lol. [/quote'] No fear here, never used Wrye Bash before Skyrim, and feared the worst,I was pleasantly surprised,I find it pretty intuitive for the mod things and save files, for other parts I am pretty sure there is a good file or two on the web...
Blackbryre Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Wrye Bash really isn't that bad. I just prepare folders by changing the "data" directory to the mod name, then pasting it into the Bash Installers directory (just right click the installers white space and select Open). After that, I right click the mod, select install, and activate the applicable .esp. On the mods listing, it will also notify you of a missing dependency in the "masters" list. This feature has saved me a lot of trouble in locating CTD errors in Oblivion. There are probably better ways to use it, but I just tinker around with it. Suites my needs fine, and works considerably better than OBMM and the like, imo. If you're having trouble finding a version that works, the 295.2 Standalone version is good enough for me, and doesn't require Python. It also comes with nifty installers.

[/quote'] yea, you lost me after the first sentence. I guess i'll just wait till someone makes the OBMM for skyrim. and i had dl's all the files needed for wyre bash. too many different programs if you ask me. and it never worked beyond a window popping up that was all black and then closing itself.
prideslayer Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 If it's not out soon I'm going to write it myself. Will have to call it by another name so people don't think I am in any way affiliated with the people responsible for OBMM/FOMM, unless those aren't by the same people either.
