JRCosta Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Ok, I'm getting a strange bug, I have searched around for similar problems, deactivate some possible esp related MODs but no luck yet, so I'm looking for someone that can bring a different approach here. Every time I exit Sleeping giant Inn in Riverwood my game CTD after a couple of seconds. Every time. I have tried other interiors in Riverwood and Whiterun, but only happens when I do this specific action. I have used Save Game cleaner and Save Game Script Cleaner in the save. Removed some mods related with followers (lots of them start there), but the problem persists. The weirdest part was that this started with a CTD after leaving sleeping giant and then fast travel after a while. Now it is just a couple of seconds after leaving the Inn. Since I don't progress really in the game (I just test new MODs recently) it is hard to find when the bug started as I have only found out after install Mirai and head to Riverwood inn to found her there and then exit. After some CTD, uninstalled her but the bug repeat himself, even using earlier saves. My recent changes that could be Riverwood related are the Mirai follower, the HDT plugin, Static Mesh improvement, the unnoficial updates update, FNIS and Interesting NPC. I have also removed some follower mods, many with Sleeping giant Inn as a starting point. My ENB is the K ENB. What can I do more? Could be my load order using NMM? Should I change to MO and try again (yeah, I should be using it first place)? I am really lost here
b3lisario Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I would uninstall mods until the CTD disappears Or temporary rename folders in the data folder (like meshes_tmp and so)
JRCosta Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 I would uninstall mods until the CTD disappears Or temporary rename folders in the data folder (like meshes_tmp and so) Yes, that's the plan in last case - disable all MODs and then adding back one by one. As is very time consuming, I look at it as plan Z Rename meshes folder isn't risky? Could be more damaging, no? Meanwhile I have installed MO, run it, adjust load order of some mods, read the LOOT log and run it. Same thing.
nutluck Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Have you tried making a new character and running there and then try it with them and seeing if you crash? Just as a test. That will tell you for sure if it is a save issue or a mod issue.

That will tell you for sure if it is a save issue or a mod issue. That is a good idea, will do it for sure. I am focusing in a MOD-related issue, but my save could be fucked up. Does it worth to drop here load order or papyrus script?
nutluck Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 You can post a load order and papyrus log, it can't hurt. I let LOOT handle my load order and research mods that change similar things to see if I need to manually sort them which I rarely do. As for papyrus I am still learning how to read it myself, but it can't hurt to post them and maybe someone a lot more experienced with them than me might see something to help shed light on the issue.
Suludi Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Static Mesh Improvement was unplayable for me, it crashed every two seconds. Or maybe it's a mesh problem. Did you enable anything with Khajiit or Argonian females in it?

JRCosta Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Ok, so far: - renamed meshes folder, CTD after leaving sleeping Giant Inn; - Used nexus vanilla save game, play around without any problem (for MCM menus to update), CTD after leaving sleeping Giant Inn again; - enabled papyrus log, attached (with vanilla save): Last lines: [ (0300B282)].DLC1DawnguardRuneAxeSCRIPT.OnUpdateGameTime() - "DLC1DawnguardRuneAxeSCRIPT.psc" Line 39 [06/13/2014 - 08:14:27PM] Error: Object reference has no 3D stack: [ (0001E68C)].Sound.Play() - "<native>" Line ? Killikrates~2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Regarding switching to Mod Organizer, YES, bite the bullet and make the switch. The sooner the better, even if it doesn't offer specific help for your current issue, this is Skyrim - you'll have another issue tomorrow and MO is likely to make troubleshooting that easier. Also, with MO you can easily activate / deactivate mods without a big install / uninstall hassle, and MO has a "conflicts" window to take the guesswork out of determining which mod conflicts with which and who overwrites who. If you do a lot of mod testing, instead of just playing the game, MO will let you split a new "profile" off of your stable default install to test new mods. If there's a problem from a new mod it will be isolated to that profile / those saves and won't affect new testing split off of the stable default.

Yes, I have noticed when I uncheck an esp, every dependent esp file alerts me, it's quite functional. Do you know how to export the loot report to an xml?
Killikrates~2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Not sure about exporting, I've just been using copy & paste to share info on the forums, sorry.
JRCosta Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 Ok, great. I found the problem thanks to this guide. I will leave it here in case someone need it. Quoting my situation: Often a CTD in a specific place in game is not an active mod, but caused by something you removed but is still in the save you are using. Because it is in the save, the game is looking for it when you go into that cell - it's not there, - CTD. Bingo! 3 weeks or so ago I have edited a follower pack mode because I only wanted one of the followers, so I edit with the esp in the CK and delete the files manually and then packed it again. Everything seems alright, the follower was there and the others were gone (Sleeping giant Inn was the starting point of a couple of them). I have unchecked my edited single follower file and the CTD is no more. Shame on me. Solved! Thank you all for the brainstorming and help.
nutluck Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Yeah thats why I asked if it did it on a brand new character.
JRCosta Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 Yeah thats why I asked if it did it on a brand new character. Even with a new, clean save, the edited Mod is buggy (a vanilla save CTD) so while it is active the CTD happens no matter what, right?
nutluck Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Yeah but it might not have crashed until you got the follower following you. Assuming i understand what the issue was. Either way thought if you found the issue you can now fix it.
