Hello all! 

I need your help. I recently reinstalled skyrim and the mods I often use. But for some reason, when I want to start a new game, the game crashing after some time. I don't know where I screwed up. If any of the mods would lack its masterfile then the game would crash right after starting the game itself. I used boss, I used fnis(5.0.2), I use the newest version of skse(7.0). The modlist is even smaller than my previcious build. I really don't know what is the problem.

FWIW I don't think the BOSS masterlist has been updated in months, you might have better luck using LOOT instead (the new Mod Organizer uses LOOT instead of BOSS now).

 

As for crashing due to missing master, I have had it occur after selecting New or Load instead of on initial game launch (and without my mod manager, Wrye BAIN or MO, or BOSS/LOOT for that matter).

 

The only foolproof solution I've found is trial and error, selecting mods one at a time and trying to launch without them until I find the culprit.

 

 

EDIT/UPDATE: I notice a post in the Naughty Remodel forum regarding the download having meshes in the wrong folder, maybe that's yur problem? Good luck, i hate the trial and error troubleshooting.

you can install the TESedit for Skyrim and run it with all the mods you have. It will give an error if there is any master missing or out of order. Fix all those and your load order will be good. Loot is a good step as well.

I use the TES5Edit merge script (probably to much) and when I include a master in a merged patch neither LOOT, MO, or TES5Edit bring to my attention, so I wind up with CTD shortly after game launch. Which leaves me with the trial and error method as a last resort unfortunately.

 

To OP: if you have to resort to individual mod checking, start with UNP Naughty Remodel, maybe missing meshes are the cause?

Update: I disabled all the plugins, only the official plugins active (dawnguard, hearthfire etc...) The game still can't start. It gives me the loading screen with Alduin and ctd.

Open your Steam client, right-click on your game name (in this case Skyrim) and select "propreties". On the new window, select the tab labelled "local files". There you have one button to push : "verify integrity of game cache". That's it.

Open your Steam client, right-click on your game name (in this case Skyrim) and select "propreties". On the new window, select the tab labelled "local files". There you have one button to push : "verify integrity of game cache". That's it.

I reinstalled again, with out mods the game started, now with the mods installed, the problem exist again.

I checked my data cache, it says "2 file failed to validate and will be reacquired" the crash still continues.

Checked again now only 1 file failed, nothing happened.

After many verifying, only that 1 file fail, the game just doesn't want to obey.
