Please review load order and logs; frequent CTD

Recommended Posts

Additional info: I just installed a new video card, r290, from my old 5970.  I did a clean driver install and have the latest catalyst suite from AMD. Did have some CTD issues before, but it seems to have gotten worse since the install.

Not crashing at start-up, that one I can fix myself, but will crash on load if loading from a save that had previously crashed, and there doesn't appear to be any rhythm to the crashes. Sometimes in picking a dialogue option, opening the map, looking at items, etc.

Some of the pap logs indicate alerts about previous mods I had used, such as 3DNPCs (interesting NPCs).  I did a clean skyrim install since I used that mod, so I'm not sure if I missed anything (I'm pretty good at following directions).

You seem to have a number of orphaned scripts, I take it you have uninstalled some mods after trying them for awhile? You can try the clear invalids with the latest SKSE it should help. Also you can try one of the save game cleaners on Nexus as well.

I ran the script cleaner from the nexus; the Fix all#-> only found 1, the FixScriptInstances button found 4.

Threw the SKSE ini in with the ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 ; and used the console command in game.  It found none.

In doing both of these it cleared all my sex history stats in the MCM, but left all the settings as I had set them before.

After checking all this I hit quicksave, and CTD'd. :(

Link to comment

Never use quicksave. Only the normal autos and regular hard saves. That could be part of your problem anyway.

And when you do a reinstall (and you want to get rid of EVERYTHING before the new stuff goes in) you have to go to documents/my games/Skryim and delete that entire Skyrim folder. Don't worry, you'll get a new one just using the Skyrim Launcher. There is generally bad stuff hidden in that folder that will carry over to a new install.

Im almost 100% sure your videocard is not problem.

LOOT-SKSE 1.7-TES5EDIT.

Better use MO as mod manager because NMM mess to many things up if you don't know what your doing.

Right loadorder is essential.

to many scripted mods cause crashes eventually.

Did you remove driver through safemode?

And use the AMD/Nvidia remove tool from GURU3D?

If not a clean install can still give problems if you just remove through catalist.

Why you install all those patches?

I'll bet they cause the crashes.

Evasia, which patches?

I used boss along with NMM; the only thing installed without a Boss check is the last mod in the order (remodeled armor with physics); because as soon as you touch anything it stops working and needs reinstalled.

Yes, I did a clean driver install; removed the old drivers with the AMD cleaner tool, ccleaner, driver fusion, checked all the files manually to ensure they were deleted while in safemode.

Have you tried starting a new game to see if there's still an issue with that one? If that works then your current saved is borked and is destined for the scrap heap. When game saves get fragged like that you can't do much besides trash them. Such is the life of a Skyrim player.

1) Play with different mods until the game breaks.

2) Try like Hell to fix it and lose hair and sleep over your 200+ hour save.

3) Cry for help. :D

4) Finally give in and deleted the toasted save(s).

5) Reinstall Skyrim and mods and do it again.

6) Repeat #5 :P

7) Keep repeating steps 5 and 6 until you realize all your problems can be fixed by using Mod Organizer and practicing sensible modding behaviors.

LOOT is very good with load orders. Not perfect but nothing is, but it tends to give you a great starting point and rarely is there problems. To tweak it further requires researching all the mods you have and see if one of them should or should not be above or below another mod that makes changes to the same thing or in the same area.

As for the logs as I pointed out you have a lot of scripts that can't find things, that is a issue. How to fix it, I don't have more suggestions beyond those I already suggested. I have never had major issues with orphaned scripts so never really learned how to deal with them, beyond that I already suggested.

So, ultimately, I should guess my load order and papyrus logs don't give any significant leads to specific problems?

At what point did I say guess the load order? I said LOOT does a good job of it, but to fine tune it you need to research the mods you have. That is not guessing that means you have to check the mods you are using and if any of them change similar things you need to read them and decided the load order based on what they do. There is no magic load order, each load order is unique based on the mods loaded.

No one can tell you the exact load order with out researching every mod you have, which is kinda asking a lot don't you think? Also if you use LOOT and the game runs then odds are your load order is fine. You only need to tweak the load order if you use LOOT and then run into issues.

As for the logs I gave you the best advice I can give. If the clear invalids and save game programs don't work, that is typically when I just start over.

One of your .ESP's makes it look like your running an ENB along with COT and RLO, if so that is going to kill your game regardless of what GPU-card you have.

The High-res DLC's provided for the game by Bethedsa are horrible, they are very inefficient at rendering properly, i would at the very least use the High-red DLC patch if your going to run them http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31255/? Or, even better use 2K texture mod instead http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/607/?

Is sexlabSTD compatable with RND?

I did what this guy told me to for graphics:

Game runs smooth. I don't have an FPS tracker, but stutters are very rare, a few seconds every several hours.

I don't have the official high res pack enabled.

Yes, it is.

So, I got LOOT and TES5Edit and obeyed. Along with gopher's tutorial

; I killed 90% of my CTDs without reinstalling my game or any of my mods.

Thanks for the help guys.
