Looks good dude! You'll get the hang of it. Some tips:

• Press tab to remove UI
• Draw box from left to right (and hold it) so the cursor is out of frame when it starts
• Use the 1 or 0 key to play or pause
• Then release the mouse and let it run

Would you believe I have played the Sim 4 for almost 2000 hours and didn't know 0 and 1 set the speed?  

I've used P for pause/unpause, but that don't work unless the last key you played was P, so if you do anything else between you have to use the play-button (or press 1 I guess...). Not a problem when grabbing screens, but problematic here, among other things because you can't unpause with tab activated.

 

Is there a setting that allows the recording to start paused? Couldn't find one, and it would help for getting the timing right.

I did a test and I think you just have to tab, position yourself, then quickly press play and your hotkey for "Capture Fullscreen Video and GIF" then wait for it

I tested a bit further, and the method I have gotten to work best was just dragging a box with tab OFF (because in general I want a close-up anyway) and quickly as hell press anywhere outside the box to go back to the actual game window and restarting time using P. There is a slight stutter right at the start, but kind of good enough. I'm not going for anything advanced here, and I think this is as good as I'll get without actually getting into video-editing software and stuff like that. I'll still work primarily with stills, but it's nice to have an option open for a little bit of movement.

 

Timing is still a bitch though, if you want to make it look good, so it takes a bit of doing to get it right.

I've gotta say, I think I prefer your method! However tab still works and you can leave the animation playing, just gotta wait for it to loop back around. I'm still going to try making full videos with subtitles if anyone else drops a wife or girlfriend for me to play with but man oh man this makes some high quality gifs.

Yeah, leaving it running and waiting for the exact right moment and start off the recording while the game is live would eliminate the half-second stutter I get using my method. I'm just so used to always using pause to capture screenshots that it kind of is second nature by now. I do just wish there was a way to start off the recording paused, would make it a lot easier.

Sure it’s not perfect, but those gifs of Dave cumming in Regan’s open mouth are top tier. The pause is barely noticeable! I might do a gif-form story here with new girls every so often, it’s that easy. Stealing your job haha

Alright, so bonus post. So true story, while playing Haerin I had the most infuriating bug. Every time she had sex all her outfits would reset to outfit #1 for that category. This had me VERY concerned, because I have a lot of sims with a lot of outfits, especially @mrrakkonn sims come with some very carefully crafted outfits, and I didn't want to lose them. I happened to mention I really liked Talia, one of his signature sims, in her frizzy hairstyle when he posts the teen-version of her, and he kind of did me a solid and gave me an adult version with that hair, which I will be playing at some point soon. But I was terrified of losing the outfits... So I set her up with Dave, my designated batter for testing purposes, into my testworld and I kinda had a practice run of making gifs while I was at it... So no story or anything, just a bunch of gifs...

 

And good news, she kept her outfits after. If anyone knows what would cause that bug, let me know, because it terrifies me. All posts I have seen with similar problems where from 2017, and it was supposted to be fixed... Luckily the problem seem to be local to that particular one sim for some reason.

The eagle-eyed will notice he is a bit paler than last time. That is due to the update yesterday, and penises need to be updated to the new skintones, so I found the closest match to the orginial skintone that still worked, and went with that.

Alright, so the reason Simon's job hasn't come up much is because it hasn't been working right...
