[Fixed] Unwanted And Permanent Invisibility Effect On My Character

[All DLC, STEP Extended pack, some adults mods installed, ENB. All to latest version.]

 

Hi, my character is now permanently invisible (armor included), even when there is no active mod. I don't know when or why, but I've recently noticed this bug when I set camera to the 3rd person view. No quest or special event is suspected.

 

I've tried every suggested fixes (Etheral Body spell, Invisibility potion, console commands : player.setactoralpha <*> ; enable ; disable ; str <*> ; changesex, etc.) and nothing fixed my problem.

 

The behaviour of this bug seems to not to be a graphical glitch but a gameplay bug :

1. During active visual effects on my character (auras, swimming into water, ghost mode, cleansing, etc.), the character is visible.

2. After an effect making my character visible, the character is opaque and totally normal during some seconds (1 or 2 seconds after Etheral Body or ~1 min after swimming).

3. My character is totally visible when he's swimming.

4. When I change the equipment of my character, the character is visible untill I close the inventory.

5. My character is visible when I'm into the Race Menu.

6. And finally, the more important : when my character becomes automatically invisible, there is a little fading effect, proving that it's not a graphical glitch, but a called effect by the game.

 

There is an invisible and unwanted effect on my character that makes him invisible when he's in a "normal" state (not under another effect affecting appearance). I think that this effect is constantly checking if the character is in "normal" mode to makes him invisible.

 

I can say the character model is loaded because I can see transparent reflection effects on the armor of my character when ENB is enabled. When ENB is disabled, I can guess the model of my character when I place him in front of some transparent effects like steam, solar effects or rivers.

 

 

Do you have any idea about a solution to fix this ? Is there a way to delete/disable this invisible and unwanted effect ?

Maybe your PC is overpowered with some cheat/god mod, armour, jewellery, perks and similar. If you are using any of that kind of mod, disable it.

I had an issue similar to this a few weeks ago and it drove me crazy. I got affected by some sort of debuff while fighting a Draugr Deathlord that made me turn invisible whenever in normal game play. If I went to a menu, changed equipment, used showracemenu in the console or whatever I would be visible but immediately upon leaving the console or menu I would turn invisible again. I'm not sure what caused it but I've read about other people who got the same type of debuff while fighting Draugr.

 

I was able to temporarily circumvent the problem by using the Ethereal Form shout then changing instances (going to a loading screen) immediately after using the Shout. This turned me visible temporarily but the following day I had a different issue. My character was visible but his shaders were not. It looked as though he was partially transparent and all shadows showed on top of the character model. The Ethereal Shout and zone trick fixed it but I went transparent again any time I changed equipment.

 

Searching for a solution to the problem led me to this thread on the Nexus:

It's a great place for finding unwanted spell effects and learning how to remove them. Most of them are NOT caused by mods and ENB but are just random graphical glitches caused by the game itself.

 

If worse comes to worst you can always download the Directors Tools mod and use it to manually turn off effects. That's what I had to do to fix my transparent shaders problem. They discuss the mod in the thread I linked above. If none of the regular console solutions work you can check out the basic directions they gave here.

 

I hope you find a solution to your issue. Please do post if you need more help or just to let people know what your problem really ended up being and how you fixed it. I'll help out as much as I'm able.

Sarathis just reminded me about unwanted spell effects. Save cleaner tools cleans the havok files (unwanted spells among them).

Thanks a lot Sarathis, the solution was into the tutorial !

 

I explain what I've done, following this great tutorial :

1. player.dispelAllSpells command didn't work.

2. I can't get the "Director's Tools" working : the menu doesn't appear

3. So I've downloaded the "Cure.rar" archive and extracted all the "Skyrim/*.txt" files into the main folder of Skyrim  : 

3. a. In the game console, I've written bat "SMGEF" (= Skyrim Magic Effect): it didn't fix my problem.

3. b. I've written bat "SEFSH" (= Skyrim Effect Shader) and tadam ! The problem was fixed !
