Modding Armor for CHSBHC BBP tutorial for 3ds max

Cherry, i forgot about one thing.

And this will probably affecting most of the guys modding armors/clothes for your body.

When you modify the armor, for femaletype_1, usually it will scale up. If the user is somehow scaling up on Z or X, when the SKIN is copied it will probably affect more bones then the same armor on femaletype_0.

Therefore you need to check the 2 armors to have exactly the same number of bones and exactly the same bones, under skin->envelope .

I lost a couple of hours, last night, with Dynasty porting for CHSBHC until i realized wth is going on.

can someone tell why all of sudden we only get 3dmax tutorials and no more blender ?? does skyrim work with blender or not ?? i have not been able to find any tutorial for blender ever since skyrim was released.

maybe i should place this in my sig:

[i don't like 3dmax' date= because i need to pay for it. Blendr is free]

It's quite easy to get a free student version of 3ds Max. All that's required is that you make an account. I've never heavily used Blender, but I found 3ds Max reasonably easy to use.

As I made my mesh from scratch I skipped the first parts and added some stuff that was needed to get it into the game but I guess that's besides the point.

The only thing I saw was that you have a picture where you point to the "copy" option for moving the Shader when you have written "copy branch" I'm guessing its the picture that's wrong there.

I've tried my mesh out in game now and everything is working' date=' I just need to do some tweaking to the weights as it seems a bit of it that should be bound to the breast and spine is bound to arms or pelvis, should be remedied very easily though.

Ow btw, I should have mentioned; I do all my editing of the mesh in zbrush so I didn't follow the moving verts part either. hehe The stuff I did learn from your tutorial was the weight paint copy which is very very useful.

ok great!

Are you going to share the creation your making? I would love to see it!

It's still a wip but here it is:

I need to fix the weighting of the panties and make that texture a bit better and I need to do a 0 weight version. I also need to find a better shader for the sweater.

The weights, physics and deformation of the sweater works well :)

Oh Excellent work!

Dont know if its really a sweater considering the amount of warmth you might get lol.

But I love it.

Ty :)

I fixed the scaling and shine and uploaded it. it's not perfect but it deforms quite well and doesn't go insane at any point of the slider.

Cherry, do you know of any guides detailing how to get a mesh from another game into Skyrim? Like, shaping the arms outside of a T shape into the Skyrim skeletons pose.

You can use zbrush transpose tool:

Well you can import the file as an object file and apply a skin modifier from my body.

But you will need to replace an existing armor with it I would think.

As for the BDismember modifier I am not sure if you can copy that from another armor or my shape or what.

The BDismember skin modifier needs to have the same vert number in both models if you're gonna copy paste it I suppose.

i have a question. how do I edit .dds files? currently working on chsbhc alterations for dynasty and blades armor, i'd like to do ebony/ebony mail as well.

The purpose of this tutorial is to help even people that have not used 3ds max before import' date=' mod mesh, merge mesh, export, then get the mesh working in Skyrim by using 3ds max.[/quote']

CherryHotaling, you ROCK! Thank-you very much for this very timely post - I am having a devil of a time with this very process! I cannot (currently) use the 3dsMax section, but the part which deals with Nifskope looks to be exactly what I need - many, many thanks indeed!! :)

REQUEST ATTN. "DA POWAHS WHAT IS": Can we please get this helpful thread stickied pronto? Ta!

Okay, so I bit the bullet (le chomp) & downloaded/installed Student 3dsMax 2012.

This download is making my antivirus very' date=' VERY angry.

[s'](*To pre-empt other forumites replies to this particular point - no I will not disable my antivirus. I am aware that this is a blunt instrument at best, but unless I can guarantee it is *not* a genuine issue, I can't. Please do not flame me for this, as is sadly routine on other sites).

I can download the plugin from an alternative source, but not as an .exe, and I need to do a manual install.

*****Please - what is the correct installation pathway for 3dsMax plugins? Believe it or not, this little piece of info is proving strangely hard to track down...*****

I have installed it here - "C:\Users\Tommy\Documents\3dsMax"

... and here - "C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_3ds_Max_2012_English_Win_32-64bit"

Neither pathway allows me to open .nif files.

I *CAN* however export .nif files to 3dsMax as an ".obj" and open them that way. Is this what I'm supposed to be doing?[/s]

:idea:Solved.

... I think...

If anyone else has this same problem (ie: suggested niftools .exe download is blocked by antivirus or similar), you can do a manual install from the latest version instead and it should work. In fact, this may actually be best if, like me, you got the 3dsMax 2012 version, as the latest niftools version actually supports it.

To find the correct installation pathway, I found this video -

. It's for an unrelated plugin, but its installation path is current, and it appears to work. Specific info relevant to installation of this mod occurs at approx. 3mins., 20sec.

Does editing armor/clothing like this make it so that the clothing has the animation on it like your body mod?

Also do we have to rig the boots/gloves to your body in order to stop clipping?

Im just wondering because i dont want to put this on plate armor and then have moving breasts.

Heyo everyone,

First off before anything else I wanted to say "THANK YOU" Cherry! What you'll see below is utter junk in comparison to the divines of modding. I just did this as a test to see if I could possibly pull it off.

I haven't touched 3ds max for a couple years, and I never felt comfortable with the program. Surprisingly enough, after messing with mods over the years, I had less trouble trying the second time. Especially due to this spectacular guide.

The real reason I'm posting this is to show that even a noob modder like me could pull something like this off:

SFW:

I really love this body style (CHSBHC BBP), and I wish more people would try their own hands at making armor/clothes for it.

On a side note, in the guide it lists to copy over the BSLightingShaderProperty, and I used this same method with NialphaProperty. Not sure if this is required for it, but knowing how things are far from perfect in import/export style I used this way. I may decide to try my hand at finishing this, or trying another. Though I must say, the 100% slider breasts are quite a challenge to mold to >.<. (at least for a novice that needs to learn more of the tools available in 3dsmax).

I do have one question though...How do you, on both armor and clothes make the boobs perfectly even on both sides? (besides just utter bad ass skill?)

Posted

I have a small problem. I make really small changes in armor, copy all BSLightingShaderProperty. When I copy NiaAlfaProperty - the game crash. So I delete it and get this.

I think I messes up with skeleton because I load armor only. 100% I checked all the right markers while importing and exporting in 3ds Max. Can somebody please help me out =)

P.S. It would be great if somebody make simple tutorial only for armor modeling, so after that he could manage to complete all the stuff in this epic tut. =)

Yes if you edit it the way I explain then you will have the animations etc working like my mod.

Its a tutorial on how to get it to work and fit to my CHSBHC BBP mod

For plate armor if you want less or no movement to the breasts you can change the breast weights to barely effect it.
