Hmm... so can I make that work by keeping the original ESP around and generating the face files with a copy, and then renaming the ESM folders created in the second step to be named ESP?

Well, trying it with the SummonElinRing file seems to generate no facegen data when I press Ctrl+F4 with the NPCs selected... I must be doing something wrong when I edit the Character Gen Data? I don't seem to be able to do the step where it says to change something there, because I can't click most of it and none of my attempts to change anything stick.

Totally agreed with you. I was thinking that lately that it is kinda strange that the client is out there for a while on the East but just a few model were imported. Let's hope more models will be imported the official release on Europe and US. There are many more models that look really good to collect them in Skyrim.

It's not that simple, renaming it into an ESM doesn't flip the necessary bit (See Switch) to tell the Creation Kit that it is an ESM as opposed to an ESP. Go download Wrye Bash, and get that setup. Use the Esmify and Espify options. It'll flip the necessary bit to go from ESM to ESP and vice versa. (NOTE: It will not change the extension to read ESM, it'll still be an ESP but will be recognized as an ESM in the Creation Kit)

No, I didn't mean renaming the ESP to an ESM, I meant using a copy of the ESP, converted to ESM with TESVSnip, to generate the facegen files, then placing those files in facegen folders named SummonElinRing.esp to go with the original ESP.

The problem I ran into was Ctrl F4 didn't generate anything and any change I tried to make to one of the Elin NPCs like the guide said didn't do anything.

More than a little strange. It worked for me. Selecting the required actors in the object window, under the actors catagory, and then CTRL+F4.

Try using Wrye Bash instead, or if you can't wrap your head around Wrye Bash, tell me, step by step on how you attempted to do this. I'll see if I can't figure out what's wrong.

I'm unfamiliar with TESVSnip, but if you can't use CTRL-F4, then certainly something is going wrong elsewhere.

Well, like the guide said, this is what I did:

-Made a copy of SummonElinRing.esp and named it SummonElinRingCopy.

-Loaded it into TESVSnip, expanded it on the left, clicked the TES4 group and checked the 0x00000001 (Esm file) box.

-Saved it as an esm.

-Opened the copy esm in the creator kit, expanded the ElinRace group to get a list of all the ring NPCs.

-Tried to change something slightly for the NPCs in Character Gen Parts. I tried to move the interpolation slider to 0.99 instead of 1, whatever that does. It didn't seem to stick, though. My assumption was that I'm doing something wrong here.

-Pressed Ctrl F4, went through the prompt for extracting facegen data, it said Done instantly and no files are found in the proper directories.

Hi to all, I have a hard disk crash today and just so very nice, my skyrim game install is on that very same hard disk that crashed. it will take some time for me to reinstall and etc but dun worry, the tera mods files that's listed in this thread are safe and its located on my other hard drive.

I think I've figured out the problem. Whenever I test using CTRL+F4 using any ESMs it never creates the proper directories, but when I do it with an ESM-ified ESP file which is selected as active, it'll generate the proper directories. At least that's what I've found. If not, I can probably just generate the face files for you.

Damn...feel sorry for you' date=' I hope you'll be able to at least recover any important personal data in that drive :§

ehe thx, the HDD has 2 parttions. 1st is barely alive but i got all the data out, the 2nd is where the darth vader *NOOOOOO~* happens. After windows sort the hdd out, i'm left with a raw 2nd partition.

*sigh*...

EDIT*** recovering files from my suddenly turn raw 2nd partition this very moment and transfering it to my NAS.

Sorry to hear about the crash. Royally blows when that stuff happens. I try to back up everything to bluray as soon as I get enough for a disk but usually thats not how it works lol.

Yeah, I can't figure it out. Could I ask for your help in getting the face files, then?

Here ya go. Extract it in The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim\Data\Textures\actors\character

Override if necessary, and I've included the tga files just in case. Also I was looking at the wrong directory from before. Even if it's in ESM format, it'll still work. So i have no idea what you were doing wrong :/

However, I'm running on the assumption you're using the SummonElinRing using the new properly weighted race, as opposed to the masks it originally used, otherwise these things won't do anything.

i was wondering if somebody can gather up all the files required by the elin race mod for example the patch/fix/etc into one easy rar file which u can just extract and go play?

this elin race mod stuff is getting abit out of hand.

and yes i recovered data from my dying HDD about 80%~85% so its fine now, retired my HDD into the paper weight section so no more heart attacks from that piece of hardware filth.

Hmm, wait... I've got the properly weighted race, with blinking eyes and whatnot, but I thought I needed more files or something. If that one file's all that I needed... it already came with the ring mod. And it had the same result as before, brown faces that don't match the body.

I have an idea. Give me a moment to upload something. I'm going to upload a giant Elin Race Super Package with instructions and all. It's to help everyone get this patchwork abomination to work, and to help dscythegeo prevent a headache with file management. I'll edit this post as soon as the files are uploaded.

Edit: It's done

Here's the all-in-one super pack with all the mods created by our 2-chan friends in Japan: http://www.mediafire.com/?oy9a3oyi5e8lbgv

Here's the errata, it also contains some "special" files along with the SummonElinRing update I forgot in the pack above (By special read the super pack instructions): http://www.mediafire.com/?o24gqyx2rwam5xr

wow so many rar files, looking at it give me a headache already lol. i have extract as what ur instruction wrote into a data folder and i only left the skeleton rar attach. since theres selection for it.

so hopefully just extract the data folder into ur game and go.

EDIT*********

file uploaded..

Thanks for taking the time to create that compilation, Avatier.

But I think I worded my last post weird, so lemme try that again, just in case.

I have the proper race files and whatnot. I have the combination race files with morphs and such, I installed the ring mod first then overwrote with the other mods, and I amateurishly lightened the face texture for the race myself. I assumed the ring mod faces were dark because I needed a lot more facegen files, for each individual Elin NPC, but it seems the one you created just now was the only one I needed, and such a file already came bundled with the ring mod to begin with.

So in that case... what the heck is causing the NPCs' faces to be so dark?

Hmm that is still very strange. Alright here's how it works for me. You'll need the facegen files as described, the face texture must be untouched, and inerpolation on the NPC face should be close to max or maxed (0.99 or 1.0). Skyrim's construction kit causes the brown face bug, guarenteed. It's been reported numerous times on various NPCs, edited old ones and newly created ones.

However, I did install that extra face texture I included in the mega package, that may be it.

Otherwise, as a bullshit bonus, here. Have my custom NPCs, you'll need the Elin Race and Summon Elin Ring to function: http://www.mediafire.com/?k6p56m97ust7dy9

@dscythegeo

One more thing, I was looking into the new uploaded RAR. You actually have 1 misplaced file. The femalebody.dds in the Data\meshes\actors\2chElin folder should of been in the Data/textures/actors/2chElin. It needs to override the original files.

Edit: Mud, provide me a screenshot, lets see how brown it is. I've had the brown face bug various times, so lets see if it's the exact same bug.

The face on the left is the result of my previously mentioned hackjob, but the NPC faces are like that no matter what I try to change. I'm gonna try the face file included in your super pack, though.

Also I noticed a couple of the NPCs had both a bunny tail and a fox tail... I don't think that's normal, is it?

EDIT: No, didn't work. Still brown. Tried it with both the original face texture and my hackjob too, and using the original came out even worse.

EDIT2: I'm gonna check out the followers you made to see how they come out in my game, but where can I find them/what are their names?

That's strange. I'm outta ideas. Here's what mine looks like without modification to anything. Hopefully it'll display, will edit if it doesn't.

Also the double tail issue is strange. It sounds like an issue when you didn't update the SummonElinRing to support the new races, since the old SummonElinRing used masks, which also contained tail and ear info. The new SummonElinRing makes it so the masks don't spawn on the summoned Elin anymore.

Edit: In reply to the Edit2, the 3 companions are found in Whiterun, in the Bannered Mare. 2 of them should be downstairs, the mage is upstairs in the room you rent.

Hmm, well, it seems as though the faces of those characters are darker than their bodies as well? Judging by the one right behind you, anyway.

And were the followers supposed to greet me with Throw Voice clips? o_O
