Data Folder? For 'create From Folder' Fomm Function

AaaROOooO!

I'm re-installing [again], and have created the required 'SCR Resources' compilation following "ritualclarity's" MAGNIFICENT

[Tutorial] SCR Resources Folder Creation and Installation - guide in this very forum. Excellent! Read it, follow it! Saw stuff I missed last time. KUDO's

However, I'm curious about the exact 'folder' setup required by the 'Create from Folder' function of FOMM before I install anything.

In my past installs, I've always created a data folder inside my 'Titled' folder and placed everything inside of it...ie...

Following "ritualclarity's" guide, I end up with---

'SCR Resouces [folder] / meshes [folder], textures [folder], sound [folder], Vegas Cokers bsa

I, however would do my setup as---

'SCR Resouces [folder] / data [folder] / meshes [folder], textures [folder], sound [folder], Vegas Cokers bsa

Does the 'Create from Folder' function not need this 'data' folder in WHATEVER mod happens to be the target, as long as the info is in the 'Titled' folder?

That is, does FOMM automatically [whatever it does when creating the fomod] place the files/folders into the proper FNV locations WITHOUT this 'data' folder being there, like it is via "ritualclarity's" end product, or should I do it my way?

I've done MY routine for every mod I've ever installed into FNV/FO3 that required some kind of repacking/compilation/options and had no problems I could see.

But this is not the first time I've seen mods that are to be/have been prepped for 'Create from Folder' function that does NOT contain the information in a 'Data' folder inside of it.

So...Yes? No? Don't matter?

edit- Guess I should have placed this in Fallout Tech Support, as it's not just about Sexout, but FOMM functions...oops...sorry

I'm always going with MyModFolder/meshes etc. instead of MyModFolder/data/meshes etc. Though I don't think it matters much, since FOMM should be able to detect this. I haven't tried the latter option in a long time, so I can't say for sure if it works that way, but I can vouch for the first one.

Hello.

It is the GREEN ONE.. lol

There are mods in my folder that have both formats. I believe the best approach  is what BruceWayne ninja'd me on.

If you are interested extract Sexout and you will find the "MyModFolder/data/meshes etc" format.

FYI. I am repacking all my Skyrim this way as well now. ModName/Meshes etc.

AHA!

Clarity!   Well then, if it doesn't matter, I'll eliminate the 'DATA' folder I create and see what happens.

Had some issues in the past when I didn't do that, folders or files ending up in my FNV MAIN directory, not the data directory, but that was also when I first got started learning how to mod, and when I started adding the info to a 'DATA' folder inside the mod my problem vanished, been doing it ever since as rote. But I keep seeing mods without it.

Probably just newb mistakes/confusion while learning the basics...I dunno...

BTW, THX BruceWayne and ritualclarity for the fast replies.

And 'ritualclarity', sweet guide, many thanks, but your avatar's lookin' a little 'blue' to me, not so 'green'. [Giggle] Rough time lately? NERF!

EDIT- just did the install as per 'ritualclarity's guide [no 'DATA' folder] and NO problems. Prior installs I've done WITH 'DATA' folder had NO problems.

FOMM does it either way it seems.

SO, It just doesn't matter! It just doesn't matter! The rich guys get the girls anyway, so it just doesn't matter!-[bill Murray-Meatballs]

Rough weekend.. to many cow mutilations... :P

Keep in mind FOMM might not be sensitive to the folder placment etc. Other mod manages are. MO manager likes  everything in the MODNAME/Textures etc. format. Otherwise you have to make some adjustments and direct the manager to the correct folder. ;)
