Then once you got the game running in vanilla state readd mods you want 1-3 at a time and play for a bit each time before saving and adding more. Then if you run into a problem you know it has to be one of the last mods you installed.

nutluck Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Remove all the mods, with NMM. Uninstall Skyrim with Steam. Delete everything in the Steam/steamapps/common/skyrim folder. Then install skyrim again using steam. Then you will have a clean copy of skyrim with how Beth made it. Then you can clean the DLC's with TES5Edit, add in SKSE, and then start adding in mods 1-3 a time with NMM. Log into Skyrim and play for a few mins after each time you add mods. Make sure there is no problems. Then save and exit, then install 1-3 more mods and repeat. Just make sure to run LOOT or BOSS after each time you install some mods and once you install FNIS make sure to run FNIS after each time you add mods that add animations or skeletons. It is a long slow process but the best way to insure you get a trouble free modded version of skyrim working.

Lmao XD Steam really know how to make our days fun lol After reading this thread i got horrible flashbacks of months past I actually solved almost all my cdt issues by following 3 simple guide lines: 1- Stick with xpms skeleton and follow the instructions on the skeleton install guidelines even if the latest and greatest was announced on the nexus. 2- Optimize and mipmap all textures with this tool Optimizer Textures (it can do .bsa too).There are other tools like SMCO but in my personal experience Optimizer Textures does a far better job. And if you use SMCO don't touch the nifs, bad things happen when you try to optimize nifs. 3- Tes5Cleaning and BatchPatching with Wrye Bash is always a great idea. That's how i solved my major cdt issues, and take into account that my pc is an old potato and i'm still able to run quite the amount of mods. gvman3670 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Nothing in the world is going to fix your CTD troubles at this point, man. Nothing. Your game is screwed. It's mangled. It's FUBAR. It's dead in the water. Time to nuke and start fresh. I would strongly suggest getting Mod Organizer to install mods, never get any from Steam (unless you want to zip them and install them through MO), and follow the guide to a fast and trouble-free game that is posted here in the tech subforum (probably a couple pages back by now). If you follow these steps you'll be fine on your new install..... Use ONLY Mod Organizer so you'll never need to reinstall again...EVER. Use TES5Edit on Update.esm and all the DLC .esm files BEFORE adding a single mod. Keep the number of script intensive mods to a bare minimum. Clean what mods LOOT tells you to before playing at all (to keep your saves from containing garbage). Get past the start of the game before installing a pile of mods, then test after adding a couple. Repeat. Get the "Optimizer Textures" app from Nexus and use it (set the textures to whatever size you prefer or need). Exercise smart modding practices.
