Sick Of Weeaboos

comic books will always have authors and run ins with great stories

everyone thought that the comics were dead in the 80's, then alan moore came up with watchmen and The Killing Joke, Frank Miller with the Dark Knight Returns, and Claremont + Byrne with Days of a Future past and God Loves and Man Kills

the 90's the same with the Liefeldization, but then Mark waid came up with Kingdom Come, Garth Ennis with Preacher, and dare to say too: Death, Return and the Reign of Supermans, Which was followed later by the Fall of Hal Jordan

And there are some great manga/manhwa series out there; some that don't follow the same shounen battle genre, without the ecchi and with great stories.

Golgo 13 is one such that deserves praise. It's one of the oldest manga still in publication, going since 1968, making it on par with many comic books. Except for it's pretty sucky ending, Naruto shaped a lot of peoples opinions on accepting manga. Full Metal Alchemist as well as Hunter X Hunter, both great genre defying manga that have wonderful stories and characters without Gratuitous nudity or violence.

I think the point here is that you can enjoy manga as well as comic books, they're not mutually exclusive. And you don't need to be a weeaboo or massive geek, shutting out your culture, friends, romance and the whole world to enjoy them either.

I'm also going to say this; I don't see why Attack on Titan is getting so much praise. It's a mediocre Manga, a terrible anime and it has boring, self loathing characters with incredibly depressing personalities. I've read it on and off since it's original release in manga and it's pretty bad. The art is pretty atrocious as well.

Actually, you raised a interesting point about comic books, and this is where I'll give stories like Naruto some credit: the concept of death is actually consistent; Someone dies, they're dead, end of story. I'm no comic book buff, but to my awareness, every single major comic book character has died and come back to life for some reason or another. That's part of why I never cared for comics either, but that's a rant for a different topic. I've ever seen or heard any kind of hypocrisy regarding cosplay though - from anyone I've met you're either considered a nerd/weirdo by them or you're not, regardless of the kind of cosplay. I've never seen someone be okay with Larping on one hand, and bash comic conners on the other for example.

You might have to explain the xenophobia thing though? Was there some controversy I missed recently, some kind of "ComicGate"?

Most comic book geeks are like Weeaboos, they consider their 'culture' and hobby to be far superior to others, without logical reason. They refuse to accept any new ideas into their lives; although i'll admit that some comic book geeks are more accepting than weeaboos, that's for sure.

I've got some stances on this topic.

I had a friend; she was gorgeous, intelligent and she was an amazing artist.

That changed when she discovered anime. She ruined her talent to try to be a manga writer, stopped going outside because she watched so much anime. She became defensive, obnoxious and arrogant because she had this thing she was interested in. I was into it too, I watched anime, read manga, drew it from time to time when I was bored to compose any decent drawings. Her skin became greasy, she became fat, stopped trying to look even slightly decent in public and she of course became a feminist that believed that make up was wrong (because it's not like japanese women wear make up right? PSHT). I still tried to be her friend because we had similar interests, she tried learning japanese by watching anime alone and soon started incorporating it into her normal conversation like some sort of immigrant from japan.

We are no longer friends because I could no longer stand the person she became, she had a nasty temper and was basically 'addicted' to the culture, whilst degrading her own. She didn't eat or drink anything english, she would openly say that both tea and coffee are 'disgusting things nobody should be drinking' and english food was inferior and fattening. She moans about her family all of the time when she herself is just as bad, if not worse of a person than them. My own family has their problems, but I can admit that I have massive flaws too. She couldn't admit to her faults, believing in her own self-righteous way that she is perfect, with her badly drawn manga and her yaoi flooded my documents folder. I went out with her for a little while, but I couldn't even make it a month with her. She never even let me kiss her because she thinks that dating should be as slow as SHE wants, not thinking about her partner.

Weeaboos destroy themselves and their whole family to be that person. They don't care about anybody else about themselves. I've met A LOT of them over the years doing what I do. I've met dozens of graphic designers who also 'try to make it as a mangaka' and spectacularly fail. They're all arseholes, the lot of them. Arrogant and self-important, nothing matters to them except the japanese culture and trying to live it for real. None of them ever make it to japan because they can't fluently speak japanese because they don't actually bother to learn the language properly, and they don't have any connections to move there. They stay single for so long because thinking like a japanese person, they assume dating is awkward and slow, like a japanese courting ritual. They often have low sex drives, yet overdose on hentai and pornography.

Sounds like an accurate description of one of my exs before I gave up standard serious relationships.

I'd laugh at american comedy on comedy central and she'd respond with death threats the second I laugh at it. Of course anything out of Japan was fine.

I wish I could say I'm joking.

It really isn't worth trying to deprogram whatever mess they've got into their head.

Whatever value that person had, whether they were a friend or some sort of lover, was already gone.

*sigh*

Blame the likes of Peter Payne and Danny Choo for contributing (or encouraging) to the cultural morass. Of course, every time "Cool Japan" is mentioned it brings a lot of ridicule and criticism, because it kinds of giving a distorted image of Japan as some kind of anime Disneyland, but fuck no, my feet are still on the ground.

BTW, there's also the Koreaboo, who thinks Korea > * and there was this one I defriended because he dumped shittons of k-pop related pics -- and looking at them, can I relate with these creatures? Nope.

I thought I was a weaboo but apparently I'm not.  I just like the cute pictures of the girls... and the emoticons u3u

Nah, you're just a nerd XD

I'm cool with that.  At what point do I start knowing useful information about how computers work?

That's a geek. Nerds and geeks differ. Geeks are knowledgeable.

Although, computers are pretty simple. I build about 4 computers a week at the moment as a sideline to my normal job.

Want to know what I hate? When people call out "Weaboo" at anything just because someone likes something that happens to be Japanese. Do I HAVE to like the English dubs better of everything just because I'm a native English speaker? Of course not. God forbid that I actually find interest in another culture but my own. I don't even watch much Anime, have only watched like maybe two, but I loved the Japanese DBZ dub and also love the English DBZ Kai dub.

Thank Cthulhu I'm not the only one. Anyway, I honestly think anime went off the rails and decided to shove fanservice down our throats. Kill la Kill, anyone?

Except Kill la Kill is pretty good in term of animation / directing / scenario / music / etc.
Being basically a shonen cranked up to eleven and the only one you'll ever need to see.
That and Fuli Culi.

fanboys bitches with me when i say that toryama ripped off Superman to create the backstory for the saiyans

Superman is a rip-off so I don't get the point.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

She didn't eat or drink anything english, she would openly say that both tea and coffee are 'disgusting things nobody should be drinking' and english food was inferior and fattening.

Tea isn't even english, it's chinese, and Japan drinks it too.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I don't think you should hate anime because of Fanbase.

That would be like hating My Little Pony because of the fan base.

Japanese or western animations aren't responsible for their fans, except if it's fan service, then they deserve a shitty fan base.

All cultures are shit

*Most cultural products are shit.

How many Naruto for a single Tatami Galaxy ? How many Batgirl volume 1564 for a single Dark Knight Returns ? How many Filthy Shades of Goo for a single 1984 ? How many Gravity for a single Grand Budapest Hotel ?

Mix good education, love for arts and a good memory and it doesn't take long to see how depressingly bad most art works are.

Sherlock Holmes ? Boring, the first episode is way too long and badly directed.

Game of Thrones ? Boring, too long, unnecessary sex, etc. In the first episode I saw 5 different persons having sex, I have no fucking idea who they are and I already saw them have sex. Porn anyone ?

Naruto ? Way too long and too simplistic, I'd rather rewatch Pokemon.

Call of Duty ? Most boring level design ever.

Skyrim ? Decent scenery and Door/Monster/Treasure RPG, disappointing compared to Fallout New Vegas.

Though Cripple Waifu Simulator wa best game sugoi desu.

Eck, even music, most of the time I only listen to orchestral music because everything else just lacks the range of the orchestra.
