Skyrim Crashes When Loading Save

So after some time and mods, my Skyrim likes to crash when loading a save. Not so much when I am actually playing the game. When I actually get in to the game and I get a loading screen, typically it goes into the "Not Responding" state for a bit, but 90% of the time it will work. The problem only really seems to be when I am trying to load a save game. It tends to take multiple attempts to get it to actually load a save game.

This was before sexlab. After sexlab it got worse. I had uninstalled it, then reinstalled it as well as any other adult mods. That's when I got BOSS and had it organize my save order. Once I reorganized it, it works a bit better but I still have issues loading certain characters. Moving any Adult mods closer to the top under SKyUI also helped. Still had some problems loading the save. I then created a new character to see if I had a corrupt save, but after a while the new character had the same problems.

I'll post a screenshot of my BOSS's last log. post-60553-0-16114100-1398744861_thumb.png

Also, I should also mention that since I have many characters, I use TES V Savegame Manager 1.1 to load individual character's.

If anyone could recommend a way I could potentially fix this issue, that would be greatly appreciated!

It's a common bug with heavily scripted mods (my guess is that it is coming from SKSE but it is just a gut feeling).

Fortunately, there is a workaround.

- create a save game right out of the carriage (if you are using the default opening) or in the starting cell (if you are using Live Another Life - recommended).

- open the console and type: save cleansave

('cleansave' can be anything you want - just give it a quick and easy name)

- next time you start Skyrim, first load 'cleansave' ... always.

- once 'cleansave' is loaded, load your normal game

This will fix 99% of your crash on load.

Consider 'cleansave' is a way to prime the game engine for whatever your game actually have in store for it.

That works! Thanks! I shall use this method for the time being.

Though if there is a way to load from a save right away, I'd much appreciate it.

I'm starting to look through my mods to see if there's anything I don't use/need.

Have you added the memory fix to the SKSE.ini file? If not, do that(not doing it limits the game to 256mb of memory, so mods is going to be a serious issue).

Also if you save in a bad script\event\other chance of CTD when loading is pretty much guranteed, example for me was outside of whiterun near one of the standing stones(with the necromancer). One of the skeletons was standing up with arms to the side(in other words, no animation or physics). Everytime I killed the necromancer the game would CTD, everytime I got killed I would CTD.

When I loaded an older save(like 2 minutes away from it) the skeleton was fixed(as it was re-rendered and thus had physics applied correctly) and I don't get any more CTD's. So that's also something to consider.

I also had a save that was right before(so the buggy skeleton was already created in the save) said skeleton, which I would CTD when loading.

So that's another thing, don't use quick-save if you are get that save-mod that binds a key to manual saving, that way you always have backup saves, lol.

Care to elaborate what you mean by this? Because if you use PCEA and have already run BOSS, it will not place at the bottom of the load order. I know it because I had a similar problem. When trying to get the game started, Skyrim would always crash the minute there is a regular NPC in the area. It took me a while to figure this out but I found that BOSS did not, in fact, put PCEA at the bottom. So if you have PCEA not at the end of the loa order, that may be your culprit.

Also remove any script heavy mods you have, like Frostfall or Climates of Tamriel. They take a toll on Skyrim's shitty memory as well.
