randompeep Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I don't know what's going on in my games, I started on fallout 3 again after installing the Apocalypse armory mod for a new taste. Couple of minutes of starting a new game, and the E key won't activate anything. When I switch to my pipboy the game crashes to desktop. Any ideas? I do remember removing an .esp from the data folder which may have done the trick. But I do not remember, so here is my load order. Yes, I know I almost have 255 mods. I started playing this one before I was too aware about it. I will try to trim it down via merging soon. RitualClarity Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Excellent.....Good to see you realized that. When I saw the amounts of mods you were trying to run I LMAO. No machine that know of is powerful enough to run all those mods without any problems. Some can be merged easy enough although I haven't done this. Mods with items like clothes and weapons can be merged. Mods with scripts or requirements of other mods not so much. Hopefully someone here with both familiarity with the mods you are using and merging them can give you some further ideas.
Halstrom Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Remove about 100 is a better number, most people seem to hit a limit around 130 mods, it depends on what the mods are, but there is also a limit on the number of added textures & meshes no-one has figured out. This is one of the reasons why as modders we ask to see a load order, as if your game is screwed up because it's overloaded, trying to debug issues you are having with our mods can be just insane.

Or you can type spoiler text you want condenced here then /spoiler put them in a bracket and you will have a spoiler. Eventually someone will get annoyed with large text displayed like you have with the load order... yes I know you are new here that is the reason I mentioned this. As for the load order.. getting closer. try to get down to 150 then start to test if works well ,, test a little longer. (a few hours of playing) if still no problems add a mod or two (note a mod not a series of mods lol) test some more. You will learn where your machine limit is. If still running into problems.. well remove 15 or 20 more mods and try again. Yes this is a pain however in the end you will know your machines limits and be able to safely and confidently run mods without running into these problems.
randompeep Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Like that then? Well I have lowered a little bit more, around 170 now. I'm seeing invisible weapons... one of the weapon mods I have must be screwing up. I've had zero crashes, and the activate map button works just fine. Only problems are, finding a good ENB that doesn't affect performance too much, and resolving the invisible equipment (usually just weapons). I believe I have determined that it is the STALKER ARSENAL mod, I'm a little disappointed that I can't use the weapons though. It does contain a lot of e'm. By the way, activate key works now.
RitualClarity Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 If you continue down to about 150 your weapon mods might work as well .. The textures disappearing could still be the result of having too much going on in the game. Try that mod without all the other mods active and you might be surprised.
Halstrom Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 You need to cull your game back to 100 mods or so, prove to yourself they work ok then add stuff 5 mods at a tie till it goes screwy then get rid of 5 mods and you should be fine, till your game reaches that, there's no point reporting issues with mods failing or buttons not working etc.

If you run into any more issues that aren't related to bugs.. because you now know what happens when you overload the game engine. You will then learn the limit that your machine can run. Then take some time and learn how to merge them. Equipment mods are the easiest.
