[Help] trying to recolor certain armor.

Hi! I am trying to venture into modding by trying to recolor stuffs. I really like this witchplate armor( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6685/? ) because of the runic glows. I tried to change the rune color to red in photoshop and was able to do so but it doesnt glow any more after i saved it. Can any one point out some tutorials for this or give me some tips. I am a complete noob. Thanks!

Not sure it might come out differently if you used gimp with .dds plugin instead of photoshop. Since with gimp you can change the color of the texture file and then use the overwrite option and it will overwrite the .dds file and you can use the edit to undo anything as long as you don't close it out. http://www.gimp.org/

Also when you edit texture files be sure you're saving the dds in a format that maintains the alpha channels, if i recall the dds plugin for photoshop defaults to a non alpha setup which can mess things up if you aren't paying attention.
