editing pex files? I'm lost

I got a copy of a 3DM mod called jullybeauty and have been editing it so that kids actually fight. Just the adopted ones. What I want to do  I found out has been done though.

I want the children to be usable as followers. There is a mod that does this for the vanilla child races. It is Make Any Child Your Follower. However the 3DM mod changes some of the children to "newchildrace" and the "Make Any Child Your Follower" mod doesn't handle those. 

 

Can someone either add the "newchildrace" to the pex files so they can be followers or tell me how to edit these? Also I am making a guess that the pex files are the reason children can be followers but it seems logical.

 

Note: The 3DM mod is 218MB.

You don't edit .PEX files. Those are the compiled scripts. If the source code for the script is included, it's in a .PSC file (plain text) and you can edit that and re-compile it. If the source is not included, don't bother messing with it.

Try it, doesn't work with all scripts and you have to clean the produced psc files a bit but better than nothing, or you do it with the papyrus decompiler and the pas file but meh shitty work^^

I opened it with that program and yeah...I have no clue.

 

I'm including the scipts folder with .psc files. If someone would be nice enough to add the "NewchildRace"  I would be happy. Hopefully someone is better at reading this than me. I will keep trying though.scripts.7z

I haven't seen anyone that couldn't be made a follower with that, but you'll have to pay them to follow you. Use the MCM options to turn on children an Jarls and set the prices and such.

 

You could also use TESVEdit on the esp to change the factions directly, thus allowing the NPCs in the mod to be followers. Whether someone can be a follower or not is part of the factions, which is part of the esp, NOT part of the scripts.

I'm really not after something that extensive. I've just always thought the dovakin's kids should be able to fight. I've got them able to defend themselves instead of running away. With the script file working to include "newchildrace" it will be mostly right.
