Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Hello everyone, I was playing Oblivion early today, and I got to thinking, why was there never a fighters guild in Skyrim? Was there a lore explanation, or was it just simply not put in?
blabba Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Dunno why it wasn't put into skyrim, as I've never played Oblivion or know the lore really well. But there's a mod that fixes this!: Pit Fighter by thirteenoranges He has an add-on for his mod as well that lets you travel to other 'arenas' it's pretty cool and a very well polished mod (it adds a gladiator faction to the game as well)
Captain Cobra Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 The Companions fill that role. Nords are pretty nationalistic and would choose choose the Companions over the Fighter Guild most of the time anyways, and the lack of contracts would drive the Fighters Guild off. At least, that's how I like to think of it.
FlyingLemon Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Well wasn't the fighters guild created by the empire to in oblivion to supply armed mercenaries to everyone if paid?
Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 Yeah, I thought of the companions too, but, there is only one Companion hall as opposed to one being in every town, I am surprised they didn't add some sort of fighters guild to every town.
Karin Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 all faction in skyrim are only in one town. And most town in skyrim are too small,it would look strange it they have 3house,pub,jarl house and sudenly guild house.

You are right of course. only Solitude may have the size to accept more than one house guild. Or, for the moment, Solitude don't have aby true guild inside it's denizens (the Bard guild isn't a true guild in vanilla Skyrim). I can't play Oblivion (tried many times, got quickly bored - and in french it's far worst than in english), but when i'm thinking at what was Morrowind, well just for Balmora there was a Fighters guild, a Thieves Guild, the Mages guild and also The Morag Tong. Balmora was larger than Solitude ... And i don't speak of Vivec, or Ald'Rhun ...
Karin Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I am happy i am not alone, never liked oblivion(mods dont help too, never finishted it) and even vanila skyrim was bad for me,Morrowind is still best for me.Guild ,town, story all was awesome here, only dont like magic on begining kinda hardcore.

ds64 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I think I saw it in some skyrim loading screen that Skyrim has fighter guild but it's overshadowed by the presence of Companions.

eAthena Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I think I saw it in some skyrim loading screen that Skyrim has fighter guild but it's overshadowed by the presence of Companions. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was the last Elder Scrolls title to employ the conventional four factions, which were called "Guilds". These factions included the Thieves Guild, the Mages Guild, the Fighters Guild, and the Dark Brotherhood. While Skyrim kept the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood, the Fighters Guild and Mages Guild were exchanged for different factions. Due to the Mages Guild splitting into the Synod and the College of Whispers, the guild could not logically appear in titles preceding the Great War. Thus, the College of Winterhold, making its debut in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, appeared as a joinable faction. The Companions replaced the Fighters Guild, canonically aligning withYsgramor and Nedic lore prevalent long before Skyrim's inception.

Ah it seems I'm wrong, This is from the loading screen quote: "Tamriel's Fighter's Guild has no presence in Skyrim. Instead, warriors seeking adventure and kinship may join the Companions, in Whiterun" and yes, it seems we can assume that the Companion's is fighter guilds, but with the nord's lore.

I count on Morrowind page 14(3house,eec,fg,ic,il,mg,tg,mt,temple,3vampire guild(even if you can be part only in one)) And skyrim maybe have 15 but this quality, for example bard only 4or5 q and all are find flute, drum etc.Imperial legion adn stormcloak are same faction only different color of armor, graybear give you main q and random kill dragon, etc.I hope ES6 will be more like morrowind

The main thing that provoke my abandon of Oblivion is certainly this sorry excuse of a french translation. I have made a mistake of buying my GOTY DVD in french. Wrong idea ... (my Morrowind+expansions CDs are in english and Skyrim is in english too, same as my other games)
