Need help with my kitty script =(

i am trying to add a very simple Kitty follower...

but i just cannot save it...

hmm well now i cannot make him start dialogue and follow me O_o he does hit little meow meow but i cannot speak to him

i did make him a script and packages, he moves fine in the game but wont follow or initiate dialogue

unless id use smallertalk and tell him to follow me to go have some totally weird beastial sex

which won't even work lol, but i guess that is because cats are simply not a normal animal in the game lol.

But ya..its our first animal/creature companion sooo

 

is there something different i need to do then with a human race?

i looked at 10 tutorial vids and it seems to be the exact same thing...

 

or is it has stupid has i would actually need a mod to speak to animals?

but i did give her a human script minus the long dialogues

 

guess i can make him a simple *always follow* useless cat lol..kind of more realistic too in a way hah

but id love to have more options for them they so cuute

Creatures have the possibility to speak with them, it's a flag inside the creature it'self, if you click Edit you will see it (it's near Essential etc.)

 

Well you didn't post anything of what you did in your companion so it's hard to find the issue. But if you are running an OnActivate block which sets some variables (as the script you wrote in OP), every time you click on him it will simply set these variables, there's nothing that allows dialogue to start, only smaller talks will start after few seconds because it forces it.

 

PS where did you find the cat? I'm looking for it since a long time but the only one I know is the one of Rob J. Helms which I failed to contact! :-/

Take a close look at the work of BenZen and Nino, those two very intelligent folks have a wonderful setup for NPC creation and dialog. I primarily have used their mods for NPC creation and such for years. Look closely at the scripts used for  EZ Companion Mod (BenZen) and EZ Companion Type-N (Nino). Benzen got the whole dialog thing down quite well and Nino had several fun creature followers.

I agree with AJ , check some of the npc settings then, review your scripts.

thats the kitty's , i dont use rex cat ,since i got sexoutrex but the main data is inside of it. and then theres , 3 kitty companion mod with alternative scripts

there is another cat mod but the guy lost his cat, and does not want to be reminded about it ,so i never dared to ask him ,if u want to try

i didn't use his Rex Script Because if not the cat was running allllll the way too where rex is suposed to be. and i couldn't initiate dialogue anyways.

Basically even if i put Dialogue NPC activated, and gave him any already made animal Dialogue to try and see..

And well he won't ever speak to me, i tried to make it the same way i did nekochan initiate a dialogue O_o

 

Now I've set a Playfollow default , but yaaa i guess it is ok with a cat...but with this..companions are pretty much on a berserk mode and kill everything...

And if ever i want a huge creature to be my defender!! .. i tried a deathclaw to see...gave him all needed factions..but he will either attack anything or not attacking at all now

he still killed everyone in goodspring other then me and my follower haha! had goodspring faction on him =x

he then tried to rape me so i had to take his life away from him =o bybye horny lizardman

 

But ya haha! even if i check the NPC dialogue thing, i never can initiate a speech with creatures,

i had a big script and dialogue done for it last night to make him sound a bit like Salem in Sabrina the teenage wich haha so old!

but ya... i just threw it away, gave him 5 different meows sound too..and he only does 1 of them he wont do the alternatives

but think i know how to fix this, ill just put 5 X 20% chance main sound on his Attack which is the meow he keeps doing, i have them on auxiliary now and bah not working,

 

u said *there's nothing to make dialogue start* so that means i really cannot speak to animals?

all we tried to do is make the cat able to speak like salem, we did initiate dialogue options

to be able to speak to him to tell him to make him follow long or short  or not attack and stuff

 

With default follow he just rushes to me and follows me now which is kinda cute haha but ya

He is always after me now, i don't mind it! i love pets but if i want to put him in my schoolhouse

He has to be less anoying xD if not people wno't feed the kitty!

Both these kitties are not from these modders, you'll need the permission from the original creator, which is R.J.Helms. I tried to contact him for permissions but I never received answer. I hope you'll be more lucky!

What I was meaning is that if you attached to the follower THAT script you wrote on the the first post, your follower won't be able to speak. An OnActivate Blocktype without an Activate function will bypass its ability to speak

Maybe if he see's my neko project he will go ohhhh yes yes make a pinky neko Ya knuuuu

if not i guess that is going to fix my problem i will just use it for myself and make them pink and could always just release a simple texture of them if someone want it

ohhhh so would it work if i made it Begin GameMode instead?

or well do i actually need to make a Begin Gamemode script to go along with this one

You didn't write what you want to do. I can only tell you what that script does, if you attach it on your follower. If you click on the follower it will set a variable to 1, will show a message and the follower will re-evaluate his package. No dialogue. When you click again, it will set the same variable to 1, it will restore his health as followers do after a combat, it will show a message and will re-evaluate his package. Still, no dialogue.

If you want to do a simple copy pasted follower, it is quite simple: you can both take a look to a vanilla follower or follow a youtube tutorial, it's plenty of them and very very very well explained believe me. I never looked for french videos, but since there are so many in english I wouldn't be surprised if there are many in french too. I mean, if you have troubles following those in english.

 

Instead, if you want your follower doing something else, you should describe entirely and with more details what you have in mind.

i want all the functions in this script, like the regen and everything

but hmm what i want him to show * showmessage NekoCAT2ComeMsg * and * showmessage NekoCAT2StayMsg *  

So i Need to Initiate a Starting Dialogue for those options to show up 

And ya i cannot speak to him at all unless its sexout doing it but its only sexout options

am  i missing a Quest script with Begin Gamemode?

 

Because i even look at nekochan and really we just do not remember how we pulled it off.

we had to learn so much stuff at the same time.

 

And well we just dont read english but we actually never watch french tv or video's

So we did watch over 100 tutorials but noone ever specify Scripts properly other then Graywolf

But his accent wowow and his script is totally basic

i am going to watch it again because i really think that it is another script i need to make

To initiate this one?

 

i wont put has many options like ranged or melee since obviously it stays melee unless i make a mice spitting cat? haha

i really only want him to follow me and attack , and do the 5 different Meow types but this i think i know how. he seems stuck on 1 auxiliary.

But ya since i cannot use the cat after all, unless i get an answer from him, i would use another Vanilla creature!

But they kill everyone in goodspring when i do...gave them player faction,donttazemebro, and goodsprings faction and haha they still ravage everyone in town, poor doc :3

If you tell me "I want all the functions in this script", this doesn't mean a lot to me, because you can create all the functions you want for your follower but I'm not really aware of what your follower should do, I... hope you get what I mean ^_^

 

You can watch Graywolf's one, it's pretty well done and you can simply copy what he does on the video even if you don't get what he says because that video is very well done in my opinion. After that, if you don't want for example some of its tactics (like melee and ranged) all you need to do is not linking that Topic in your dialogue, so it won't appear in the conversation.

 

If you want to put a regeneration, well now this depends when it must regenerate. If you use it on a OnActivate blocktype, it means it will regenerate when you click on him, instead of speaking with him. If you take a look at the vanilla followers, if I remember well they put regenerate OnCombatEnd, so every time a combat has finished they regenerate. Is it what you want? Or do you prefer a dialogue like "Now regenerate yourself!" and magically he will regenerate?

hmm ya thats what i want a Endcombat regenerate without having to tell them to do it

or if i simply put it on essential in geck won't it recover on its own?

 

all i want the creatures to do is Be able to dialogue

like having to speak to him to make him join my group , and make him follow by default once he joined

and then be able to tell him follow Long or follow Default

Be Agressive or Not Agressive

And tell him to go Back home *in the schoolhouse*

And that would be it since they are only animals

 

We had the same problem with Nekochan took us 2 days to figure it out and ya we dont remember how.

we suck at scripting

i am remaking it with graywolf script see how that goes

Graywolf scripts do exactly the functions you described, you will be good with them. You can speak with a creature just like you speak with an actor,: in their tab, just below Essential, there's Allow PC Dialogue. If you flag it, they will be allowed to talk with you. So you just need to put Graywolf's dialogue topics and scripts and it's good. Or copy paste nekochan, maybe it's faster since it's already created inside your esp.

ya i copied his script now and already made 5 different copies for the companions i intend to include soon

so that i wont forget again haha scripts will already be there.

now we will close all sounds and go watch his part 3 many many times again so that it gets burned inside our brain once and for all

when you create a new companion, just make sure to not start from an existing scripted one and simply change its base ID. Always start from scratch, à partir de zéro. It will avoid you a lot of headaches

its incredible how much luck we always get with authors...

on the 25 mods we wanted to use for the nekomimi project only 1 author turned uss down

and sadly we are still waiting after Daughter of Ares Authorization to make a Neko Ares!!

yes, sent a message few weeks ago on nexus and didn't receive an answer. Since he was always very kind in the past, I only supposed he wasn't around anymore.

i have an account thats not banned because it has been endlessly waiting for a reply from moderators about my appeal...

but i need to use a vpn they didnt unlock my ip or my accounts, they just told me to not post or download mods for now but it has been 2-3 weeks...

they wrongfully accused us to start with and yet they still cannot hurry the f up..we need only 3 mod approval and its taking forever

They didnt like the fact we made 2-3 accounts...But YAAAA we didn't like the fact they banned us for NO reason either

do you happen to know a link to a tutorial on how to change building textures,

i totally retextured the schoolhouse, changed all the path in nifskope

and well when i switch Models in Geck my texture wont show up.. normally works for weapon and armors..

if not i normally make the textures in geck but other then the model i absolutely cannot edit anything on the Schoolhouse exterior

and well i am quite sure 30% of buildings in the game uses those same textures so i cannot just override the game ones

oh it works in the same way for buildings too, believe me. It works in the same way on all the nifs. i actually don't know why your school doesn't show as pink.

If you hear me, you should create a new base ID for the school, so you won't touch the original one (maybe disabling it) and then place your new school over it, replacing the nif path with your custom one (with the texture paths changed)

 

PS there's not a no-steam version for FONV, it's Steam exclusivity... I'm quite upset for that reason because even if I have a dvd (not a digital copy then), when my connection doesn't work sometimes I can't even play with steam offline because it requires me to go online. But well it's the sad truth: no steam - no FONV

Well, robbing a bank is possible, this doesn't mean it's legal ;)

as I said, even my physical copy always asks me first to validate my account on steam, and then let me play. The annoying part is sometimes it doesn't let me play when my connection is down, even setting Steam as offline.

I don't know if the 4gb path problem was related, maybe it wouldn't even be related with that. But anyway saying it wasn't installed with steam was already enough for them to swing the banhammer.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\fnv4gb.exe is how it should be

think i found out why it wasnt working for schoolhouse, well my walls was pink but not my roof,  that SCOL thingy is overriding the roof i need to nif this too =)

never noticed it was a SCOL. You can un-group SCOLs in single objects if you want, if it makes your work easier
