TomahawkChop Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I am planning to install some new texture... and I found this one http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/607/? (Skyrim HD - 2k Textures) though I only play the game at 1024 resolutions.. is it going to be bad? or maybe you can recommend to me some texture mods that is for 1k resolution. Thank you for the replies
gvman3670 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Screen size and resolution settings are going to come into play and most people never take that into consideration. For example, I play on a laptop with a 15.6" screen. I can't even realisitcally get any use from 2K textures. There are not enough pixels on my screen to render them fully even when the res is set at it's max of 1366 X 768 pixels. Honestly, if I reduce textures from 2K to 1024 I can't really visibly tell a difference. If I go down to 512 I can then see a difference a difference on some things, and at 256 it really starts to show on almost everything. So my point is that if you can't SEE the difference in textures (for whatever reason) then don't bother with them because rendering them will give you a performance hit with no visual gains. I tend to use 1024 textures and run a texture optimizer on all my textures to max performance and still have decent looks. If I was on a more powerful machine with larger monitor(s) and higher res then I'd go for as high res textures as my machine could handle.

The model will take up more of the screen taking up more effective pixels. It won't be much of an improvement, but slightly improved.
