BlackArk Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 For some reason in my previous installs of skyrim, the skyrim bsa files were automatically extracted for me somehow. But after I nuked my data folder and Installed it again the vanilla bsa files are still there. I am talking about the: skyrim - animation.bsa skyrim - interface.bsa skyrim - meshes.bsa skyrim - misc.bsa and so on. What did I do previously that help me extract the bsa files that I did not know about?
gvman3670 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Do you want to extract them? Why? Mod Organizer has a prompt come up asking if you want them extracted or not. Are you using MO?
BlackArk Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 I am using MO. But I am not getting any prompt to extract. I even reset the dialogs so it may ask me if needed but I have not been getting anything. Do I absolutely need to extract them?
gvman3670 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 No, you don't need to extract them at all. I am running ~100 mods right now and haven't extracted a single .bsa yet.
BlackArk Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Hmm, that is strange then, why were my previous installations extracted then? Oh well, I guess i can try and nuke my installation again and see if i missed anything. I am running 200+ mods, I have way too many armor and weapon mods. I need to merge them with tes5edit. I'll figure it out some other day, too tired from trying to find the mod that is causing world map to CTD.
Veladarius Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Rarely do you need to extract a bsa to use a mod especially the Skyrim bsa's. The only ones I have extracted is if I need some of the resources when making a mod, typically scripts or if I want to modify something.
BlackArk Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Are you using SSME and/or FreeMem yet? I am using SSME but not this freemem you mentioned. What is it?
gvman3670 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 FreeMem dumps memory for you. You can set it to dump after a specific amount is used, set it according to time, use it to manually dump or have it dump when changing cells. All controllable from the MCM of course. It's here on LL somewhere.
BlackArk Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 I'll give it a shot but I think I should be fine with SSME tested game stability and it was great. My CTD only happens when I open my world map in any situation. Other menus are completely fine. Could it be a mod with a bad map marker? Currently at 247 mods
Veladarius Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 It could be an issue with the Map textures, are you using a texture replacer for it? Are you using any custom map markers as well? If so, try reinstalling or removing them to see if it makes any difference. You should be fine with the number of mods, just watch for any that have scripts that run constantly. I am at 250 currently with no problems.
BlackArk Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Hmm, I guess I will need to single out the specific mod that is causing the problem by deactivating and activating only a few. Okay so I though managed to fix the problem once by fixing mods that had errors in them by opening them in CK and then saving. But the same old problem showed up under different circumstances though this time it seems to only occurs inside cells. It could be an issue with immersive interiors. I will have to test it when I have time. It was apparently an issue with Water reflections mod. Removed and fixed but other problems persist.
