Taskmaster Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 When i think to that, i can remember that before the Nexus staff was more tolerent. Don't know why they are changed to this point. Religious lobbying maybe ? Other thing ? Loverslab has a far better community than Nexus for now. Too much power and influence. If there were other places that could threaten Nexus' top mod source position, they wouldn't be pulling this - they wouldn't be able to afford to, and they'd be gone. Knowing that people that don't even like the place pretty much have to go there to get some mods, even if they don't want to, gives them the room and power to string the modding community around. They can throw dirt in your face, and you'd still go there, and download. Nexus wouldn't be pulling the type of stuff they do today, if it were 5 years ago, and still TESnexus. You don't really ever want some place or someone, to monopolize resources. Who's to say that LL wouldn't go through that same type of thing, if LL had that much dominance in resource. Big imbalance in modding resource places. Honestly, anyone that creates hugely popular mods, and conversions, if it started here(or somewhere other than Nexus) it should stay where it originated, imo. Not out of selfishness, but just because modding resources need to be scattered around, otherwise you get what Nexus has become.

If LoversLab got extremely popular, then the site would become overly exposed... at which point, even someone like Ashal would have to start cracking down, or risk all types of things even down to copyrights and civil suits. It's probably then a choice about taking reputation hits, just to at least ensure that the site remains around because grabbing mods and having a community is what people care about - or letting a site become the wild west and risk having it all shut down. Think about it, look at how much noise even this site makes, when the Nexus can't load right. When I think about it, it's likely not even that a place like Nexus has lost sight of what they were really about, it might be quite the opposite. But with so much exposure, things can get ruined though in so many different ways. Again, this is why no one single modding site should have access to so much and so many modding/modder's resources.
