Have a question about Mod Organizer

So far Im liking it, Skyrim is running much smoother than it did when I installed mods through NMM, but is it common for files installed through MO to not work right?

I installed Race Menu v2-5-1 and its missing breast sliders. I used SOS B3lisario add 0n (and the Race menu addon) and thats doesnt load.

I dont know if Ive done something wrong, but when I install the mod I just choose the quick install and say no when it asks about BSA's. Any idea whats going on?

You activate the bsa's in the archives tab?

No, but I dont see those listed in there anyway. Am I supposed to go ahead and check off all the ones in there? The pop said to click no if I was uncertain.

Click 'no', you mean when you are asked to extract bsa's? That's ok, but in that case you need to activate each bsa in the archives tab on the right tabs, it should appear a red triangle whenever you have an unchecked bsa.

Ok, I thought I was having freeze issues by doing that, but it was another mod that was causing it. One question, even if a mod I installed doesnt seem to a BSA accociated with it, might it still change anything?

For example, I do see a RaceMenu BSA, but not an SOS B3lisario AddOn BSA

Because RaceMenu comes with a BSA, and B3lisario's addon comes with loose files (folders like meshes, textures, etc.) You can see the content of any installed mod by right clicking on it, and then click on 'open in explorer'.

Wait MO is supposed to make your game smoother? Funny. I started Skyrim a month ago with constant bugs, crashes and freezes. installed patches and supposed fixes and the game never maintained smooth, even with Mod Organizer. Even playing the game pure vanilla I had nothing but constant crashes. With Steam online or offline. I'm curious how this actually makes your game smoother. If you are referring to keeping the mod files separated, perhaps. Still not sure how that makes your game smoother.

I didnt mean that it makes the game smoother in the traditional sense.

I was using Nexus Mod Manager for about a week and had the game continuously CTD. I reinstalled Skyrim and began using MO since by my understanding it keeps the mods and the game data separate instead of like NMM overwriting the game data.  So far Ive been able to start the game right up with no issues (aside from trying to use a modded armor that was made for another body type which caused the gamed to crash).

Its only messed up on my one time outside of that, so compared to NMM it is vastly superior.

Also using TESVEDIT to clean the update esm is supposed to help (if you havent tried that).

Wont the loose files activate when the mods installed? Or do I have to do something special to make it work?

If you're doing the T-pose and frozen then you need to run the FNIS generator tool.

Loose files just load and will get priority over files in a .bsa. Nothing to do with those besides make sure the .esp/.esm is activated (if there is one, and there isn't always).

I can tell you, from experience sadly, that there are right and wrong ways to mod Skyrim. It's been a learning experience for me. You can't simply just add mods and go, as your bad vanilla experience demonstrates. Skyrim needs some TLC. The game I am playing now is unbelievably stable and smooth, while I never thought it possible. Of course, I've had a CTD and a freeze recently, but I installed Maids II: Deception, and that mod contains well over 1000 individual scripts (so I expect something from it). I'll remove that mod when I'm done and reload a save from before installing it then keep on going!

There is a thread outlining how to have a fast, smooth, trouble-free Skyrim here somewhere. If you follow the steps in it you'll have a good experience. Those tips and methods work. For real.

Do I run it from MO, or from the shortcut on the desktop?

When I run it from the desktop it works, from the MO, last time it crashed.

Run from within MO, the files from mods need to be loaded.

Edit: For me, MO is making Skyrim smoother/more stable. Maybe because the file structure is cleaner.

You need to run everything from MO, or the programs/patches (like FNIS) won't see your mods installed through MO. Install FNIS in MO like any other mod ("install mod from archive), check it. Then navigate, in the data tab that it's on the right tabs, to the tool, right click > add as executable. Then you can run it propertly.

I got the animations working again.

But I do have another issue (it also happened before not just now), I always sell robes from enemies, when I remove a robe from a Necromancer (a female High Elf), the game CTD's. Any Ideas?

Note: I had UNPetite for body skeleton and switched to UNP Blessed Body (I have a variant of the UNPetite for this character, UNP BB for NPCs)

Running it from a desktop shortcut (outside the game) won't do anything for the characters in game. You need FNIS Generator set up as an executable inside of MO and launch it from there.

For sleketon, install XP32. Then run FNIS with "SKELETON Arm Fix" checked

Its odd, this seems to only have happened with that enemy, maybe its a problem with High Elves? Ill add that mod and see how it goes.

It's not a mod. :D When you run FNIS there are options at the bottom to check. One is "skeleton arm fix". Be sure to check that when you run it.

Running FNIS from MO freezes MO until the generator is done and closed.

Why are you still messing around with NMM? No reason to use that junk AT ALL. MO does everything it does (but better) and does so much more. Plus using both methods could very well be the source of your troubles actually.

Well, now Im just getting the T pose constantly. How does MO come back? When I hit exit nothing happens. It just takes me back to the desktop

Theres something Im not quite figuring out. Ive reinstalled the 3 FNIS stuff, Unofficial Skyrim Patch through MO, and SKSE on its own.

If I run the Skyrim from the SKSE shortcut on the desktop it plays, if I run it from MO I get the T Pose. Running FNIS from MO seems to shut off MO completely and I get nowhere, just a constant T Pose.

Dont know if it matters but SKYUI isnt active for some reason when I load the game, even though its installed through MO.

This is something thats not making sense to me, I add the ZAZ animation packs and run FNIS from MO. Tha amount of animations does not increase. FNIS is supposed to be installed in the MO's mod folder right? Or do I need to move it? I cannot figure this BS out
