Suludi Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Okay, Autodesk 3ds Max is really pissing me off. I managed to create a few animations but no matter what I do, they don't get exported, and the game only loads a t-pose. I did follow the tutorials but for whatthefuckever reason, the program hates me. Plus, I don't know how to bind a script to an animation. So. Since I really hate the "click on bed get black screen menu stand there like an idiot" travesty of a sleep option, and since I don't like the need for bedrolls, beds and conveniently placed haypiles, I want to create a "Sleep Anywhere" mod in addition to "Sit Anywhere" that's already on Nexus. So I have created the animation which needs to be cut into three parts (lay down, sleep, get up). Now I want - the "sleep" part to slowly regenerate health and stamina and give the "rested" bonus - a keybind or a spell so the char can lay down and sleep anywhere they want - an option for the player to end or extend the sleeping time whenever they like. If they want to watch the sleeping char for an hour or more, they should be able to do it. Only I can't do it because I suck and 3ds Max sucks. Is there a modder out there who'd like to try their hands on it? sleep_anywhere.7z
DDproductions83 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Well if there is and they can do it without SKSE and FNIS I want them and you on my Discworld team I will hit up Khia and ask him later, hes been helping me with all the scripting, I know easily I could trigger it with a spell command and probably once the animation is playing getting up would be easy by just moving probably But adding the animations without FNIS I have no idea of and would really like to know since I could use some custom ones in Discworld As the sleep animation plays that isn't too hard either to give them the rested and slowly regen health stam and mana
Suludi Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Hm, I thought adding it via FNIS would be the easiest part (for Fore, that is ^^ ). Why do you want it without FNIS? And which discworld team? Is that a new project?
DDproductions83 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Aye a pretty damn large one And we will NOT use FNIS or SKSE due to the people who created them being assholes and we don't want anyone who plays our mod to be forced to use their BS. The plan is a one stop d/l for the Discworld We will find a way to include animations, hell we figured out moving platforms mind control and sailing, what's a little animation work Just not top of the list atm And if you are wondering they are actually little twats, we have had communication with them over the years and they are just bitches as if that wasn't apparent by making a modder resource and NOT allowing modders to release it with their mods. That is just tacky BS

That is just tacky BS Meh, I can't really find fault with them for that. The nature of both is that they are seperately run executables that they themselves have made. Their kind of 'special' mods. I mean hell, SKSE and FNIS are so widely used that it shouldn't be that difficult to post 2 link requirements to their page. IMO, it's better that way because then the newbs can post on THEIR threads the bug reports/how to install/complaints instead of on your own mod page. But I digress and can sympathize with your arguments (I have only complete respect for any modder, and have yet to meet a modder I dislike, mostly because I do not speak to most mod authors) Back to point: I know if you use SKSE and FNIS, you can set it so that when a player presses t for sleeping, you can make your animation 'hook' into the normal sleep menu instead of a black menu pop-up, But I honestly cannot contribute the exact how's or anything, sorry about that But there are existing sleep modification mods that get rid of the black screen, but still have no sleep animations. So you could try dling one of those and try a script edit to it to point to your anim. Let me know if you'd like a link to one.
gvman3670 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 IIRC, Animated Prostitution had a "see you sleep" option.
Suludi Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 "See you sleep" still has the black screen. But yes, I think it's possible to bind my animation into one of those. blabba, I'd be grateful for a link or two. DDproductions83, I'm sorry you dislike SKSE and FNIS. I find them both highly useful and couldn't do without them.
DDproductions83 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Oh I don't dislike the mods I dislike their authors lol, and knowing it can be done as a exe means I can get it done in game without having the user do a external so meh

Aren't you? I can't imagine anyone downloading Discworld and NOT already having SKSE and FNIS added to their Skyrim. Nearly all the decent mods available require them anyway, right? I think it's cool you want a "one stop shop" kind of experience with your mod. Good idea I suppose.
DDproductions83 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I'm targeting everybody, if I was only targeting people who had modded skyrim we might be screwed but we are going for a full blown 20-40 hours of content that is better than skyrim was, in terms of fun anyway And I would rather it be a one stop shop just due to that, it will garner way more downloads and be easier to put in translations and distribute worldwide. Making a mod dependent on antoher mod might not seem a big deal to some of us but take my g/f for example, mind numbingly incompetent when it comes to mods but we say CLICK DIS BUTTON PUT HERE U GUD PLAY GAME She can handle it Tell her to run FNIS d/l SKSE and put it in this folder make sure to boot from SKSE blah blah blah, shes gonna say F IT and not download and play and have fun I'm not targeting ppl with shittons of mods, frankly I fucking hate people with 50+ mods right now cause theres always something buggy when I make the most baseline companions ever IE Dhalia and Allune, so bleh I'm targeting the world son!
blabba Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 "See you sleep" still has the black screen. But yes, I think it's possible to bind my animation into one of those. blabba, I'd be grateful for a link or two. DDproductions83, I'm sorry you dislike SKSE and FNIS. I find them both highly useful and couldn't do without them. Sorry for long delay in response, I kinda forgot about this thread in the midst of other things. Here's a 'See you Sleep' Mod, you can try some minor scipt tweaking to point to your anims (using FNIS ID of course) and then go from there to 'customize it/add a new entry if you weren't in bed' stuff like that. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20054/? Here's a mod that get's rid of the black screen but I believe it still freezes the VM(game) their should be a simple function in SKSE for you to override that call though (I think, again I'm about as much a novice as you can get in terms of scripting...) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51087/? You'll note that you will need SKSE and FNIS to run the above two mods correctly. I simply don't know a way to do this without those two mods, sorry
Suludi Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 I'm not the one who dislikes the SKSE and FNIS creators. Thanks for the links!
