Thoughts on AI being used to help create mods?

A year ago, AI was impressive but still pretty basic. But now I believe were going to be entering the golden age of modding with its recent advancements. Any average guy can use AI to make some slop mod with AI script and Art, But I'm excited to see what the competent and vetted pro modders will do now that the tech exists and is easily available. Has anyone here seen examples of good AI assisted mods?

I'm less concerned about what the tools modders use and more concerned by the quality of their final product. As you said there will be a lot of people will use AI to crank out half assed jank. But there will also be passionate people who use AI assistance in a proper manner to create some real masterpieces that were once not possible.

Just the effects AI has had with helping decompile old games has be mind blowing. Yes, there are bad actors using it effective as a Vibe Coding mill: cranking out barely functional ports of everything they can get their hands on. But then there projects like what is being done with Tekken 3, adding in characters and content from other games in the series and led by a team that is passionate in trying to make the best retro version of Tekken possible.

AI voice synth - Completely fine, no issues from me.
AI coding - If it works it works but I am skeptical of quality.
AI art - Tolerable but almost always pretty bad looking.
AI writing - Complete trash and actively nauseating to read, has absolutely no place anywhere and I honestly consider it offensive that some people will just slop up even the description on their mod page and trick me into reading AI drivel for even a second.

There are two types of modders.

1) Modders that mod for a result

2) Modders that mod because they like the hobby of modding.

The first ones will use AI so they can get to their result as fast as they can. It will show in the polish and the quality of the mod. The deep love that the second type of modders give to each and every detail of their mod is just missing. There is a reason it's called 'slop'.

If you mod because you like modding then you will most likely not even consider using AI, because it defeats the entire purpose. It's like saying "I learned to play guitar" after instructing robot hands to do it for you with A.I.

If you mod because you want quantity and not quality, if you mod because you want those likes and to push as many mods as you can out, to get that 'recognition' then AI is the perfect way to do that. It will help you fill the modding scene with slop and shit.

I encourage this, it will make the first type of modders stand out from the rest, the slop generating like-factories.

AI voice synth - I have issues with voice actors losing work.

AI coding - if it cleans up spaghetti legacy code, that is useful. the concept of a mod is the key.

AI art - useful for generic backgrounds. WAN is getting very good for 30s animations.

AI writing - agreed. rapidly becomes repetitive rather than developing a storyline.

the big concern will be in about 3 years - which is when I'd expect big blockbuster movies move to being choose your own adventure, rewrite a scene/substitute digital actor, at the cost of a lot of the film/tv industry. the big concern will be in about a year, where newsfeeds through AI, or completely artificial newsfeeds, distort things such that there are huge engineered blind spots and distortions in what we receive.
