Steam prompted the update…

Fuck, steam for some reason prompted skyrim AE to update… is it fine when i already made the appmanifest read only? I still want to stay on 1.6.11 and have the download paused in my pending downloads page. I just want to know if it goes though, I won’t have to go though the whole process of backing up files or moving things around.

As far as I know, after disabling updates (appmanifest read only) , that notification appears only once. Usually, you can just ignore it, exit the game, and restart it.

I'm also using version 1.6.1170, and after blocking the update, I launched the game, ignored the Bethesda update, exited the game, restarted it, and the problem was solved. I suppose it's normal for the warning to appear. In any case, just launch the game without an active internet connection. No connection, no update.

Alternatively, just keep Steam in "offline" mode all the time... that’s how I’ve been preventing unwanted game updates for several years.

If I need something from Steam, I go online... then I switch back to offline mode.

You can also amend the appmanifest (can't remember which is fallout and which is skyrim)

 

 

While online in steam as long as the game hasn't been launched steam does not see it as installed so doesn't try and update

 

Play it in offline mode and then close and re-open steam after playing fallout or skyrim before going online keeps it invisible as steam only realises its installed after playing

Now good to switch from offline to online mode to play something else, buy a game etc
