D_ManXX2 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 This part has been bugging me allot. and never found what was causing this AI issue. But when you visit Whiterun for a first time the guard walks up to you. then when it is finished he should return to guarding the gate. but somehow this AI part never triggers. so if he walks some space away form the gate this part will look weird. Also within Whiterun, sometimes those redguard will talk to a guard but allot of time there is no guard and redgaurd will talk itself. i have been switching of mods and never found what causing this ai issue till i switched off unofficial patch and the ai of npc seem to be trigger properly again.

srayesmanll Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 The first one has been fixed with the newest USKP (2.0.1) - the guard now returns to their normal spot. Used to be the guard would disappear completely the next time I went through the gates, then the guard started just standing where I talked to him (just like you stated) after different updates. The other issue I think still happens, but it is random for me. Some playthroughs the guard is there, some not. I noticed that in the battle with dragon at the western watchtower, if you lose 3+ guards in the battle more show up in the aftermath to do the little scene with the guards and Irileth. I've had to wait for the other guards to appear before the scene started. I wonder if they are pulling the guards from the whiterun cell, so when you return the redguards are talking to a guard that is still at the watchtower? That is the only correlation I've seen - more guards at the watchtower aftermath / no guard for the redguards discussion.
