OrdoLustrious Posted August 1 Posted August 1 So I have a dream of becoming a published writer and I have been working on a story for a while now. I have talked with other avid readers and they say the idea sounds very promising and I have mostly worked out the central structure, themes and plot for the middle and end. I know it will be a five-book series and I can visualise the characters in my mind completely. I know every single aspect of them and their lives but the problem I have is the start. How can I write something that will draw the reader in at a pace that isn't too fast so when it slows down later the reader won't loose interest but not too slow that they feel it will be a slog over no-mans-land to get through? I keep thinking about it but I can't seem to just sit down and write. Does anyone have any tips for such a problem?
The Gauntman Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I know it's hard, but it's what you got to do. I have talked to others about how to keep going and they all say you got to do it. One page a day or write your favorite scene. Anything, as long as you write. That is what makes the difference in people who write. I know I cannot do it, but I hope you can or give it one hell of a try. 1

I have written a small schedule for next week and I shall try to do a page a day and hopefully work my way up to Steven King's method of 6 a day. Also, extra love for the Macho Man profile pic. Truly the cream of the crop!
