Old OBSE not Initializing, xOBSE Giving Errors

I've tried to install LAPF and checked several times if I've followed all of the steps correctly, but there's one issue - the original OBSE doesn't want to run on my computer. The OBSE launcher insists that I need to launch the game via Steam, meanwhile Steam refuses to enable Steam Overlay for Oblivion, which results in OBSE not initialising at all. Yes, I've checked Steam global and game settings, Steam Overlay is enabled everywhere. Clearing Steam cache, reinstalling Steam and setting Oblivion or its launcher to run as admin or in compatibility mode hasn't fixed the issue. xOBSE does seem to get the mods to work correctly and it doesn't need Steam Overlay to function. The issue is that LAPF apparently doesn't recognize xOBSE and keeps giving me errors in in-game console. (Unable to find function definition for command 0 in script Error in script 010090ea: (null) in File: Lovers with PK.esm) Does anyone have any idea on how to fix either old OBSE or xOBSE so this thing finally runs as intended? I'm at a loss.

I don't use the Steam version or xobse, so as an option, find the DVD version Gold (for OBSE 21).

I guess acquiring a different copy is my only way out since I've LITERALLY REINSTALLED ENTIRE WINDOWS and this fucker still doesn't work. No idea why. Don't remember ever having this issue before.

Are you sure OBSE is not working?  Have you played other Mods that need OBSE ?

Or is it only the LAPF error message?  Then install  the Lovers with PK.esm without the OBSE check
