So when we download mods from Nexus, the Spider mod file will be saved as potato.zip. Am I too old to mod now?

Because someone who downloads the mod and then uses it in the future has no chance of knowing what it contains or where this file came from.

It will also be completely impossible to handle bug questions from users when they don't know which version they have installed.

So could someone please make an add-on for the browser?

Generation Vibe Coders don't seem to be the smartest.

For MO2 there's this at least. I hope they revert this change.

I think that is only useful if you use MO2's download mechanism. Don't think it's helpful if you download manually then "install mod from archive". Can't see a reason why they changed it at all.

Weird I’ve never had an issue. Have you checked to make sure that your browser isn’t blocking them because they flag them as suspicious

They (Nexus staff) decided to fix something that wasn't broke.  They've since fixed the fix.  This thread is no longer relevant as it refers to Nexus download behavior that no longer occurs.

They haven't reverted the changes. The only update is a bunch of letters at the end of the downloaded file. They still insist that everyone must use the new naming convention to fix the filename issues in Unreal Engine.

They have now crated their own topic.

Update:

New file names {Mod Name} {modID} {version} {fileID}.{ext}
