Fraying9981 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) I'm running Peaceful Living which makes most vanilla humans non-hostile by default. It pairs really well with AI mods like SkyrimNet because humans won't attack you on sight anymore, but can still turn hostile through dialogue, making encounters with necromancers, bandits, forsworn, feel earned rather than automatic. The side effect is that now, only vanilla, lonely animals reliably attack me, so the world feels a bit sparse in terms of combat encounters. I'm looking for mods that add new enemy types/factions (humanoid or creature) with their own dedicated spawn locations, not layered on top of existing vanilla spawns. The dedicated spawn point is key because mods like OBIS add bandits where bandits already exist, which conflicts with PL's faction overrides. Mods I've already tried: Enemy Plus: closest to what I want, adds variety in enemies and new spawn locations, but a bit dated and rough around the edges, as it adds items I don't use + the balancing is not great https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21572?tab=description OBIS: great bandit variety, wrong spawn placement for my setup because they spawn right next to PL-affected bandits who are already peaceful, creating jarring contradictions https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4145 Immersive Encounters: good concept but too few events overall to meaningfully fill the gap Immersive wenches: it's nice, but not super immersive :p https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/595 Pale Gore Series: good but too few NPCs added https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/168223 Ideally looking for something post-2020, maintained or at least well-polished. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Edit: I have found the following that I will test. Any feedback is appreciated: Extra Encounters SE: seems to tick the box of new spawn points. Unsure about whether it adds new enemy types https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/25504 Mihail Monsters pack: they look really cool, but seem to add a LOT https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/56523 Edited May 1 by Fraying9981

There can be balancing problems but that is always a possibility if you have dedicated spawn points - author has no idea what level you will be when you get there. I've used it since LE days and get on well with it. I also run these but I can't say which are what you are after. MINPCs High Level Enemies There's also the legendary Honeypopcorn's Skyrim Overhaul but that seems to have gone from Nexus. Also Demonic Creatures from here on LL
traison Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I feel like some clarification is needed here: 2 hours ago, Fraying9981 said: I'm running Peaceful Living which makes most vanilla humans non-hostile by default... What kind of creatures are you looking for, considering Peaceful Living seems to make vampires and sabre cats peaceful? I mean, what is worse than a vampire and the apex predator? I suppose you're looking for some demonic stuff? 2 hours ago, Fraying9981 said: Ideally looking for something post-2020... There's a funny phenomenon in the Skyrim modding community where finished mods are immediately labeled abandoned. It's like in Greece where you leave the topmost floor of your building unbuilt so that you don't have to pay taxes because it is technically not finished yet.
Fraying9981 Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 Wow a lot to unpack here thanks for your replies! 2 hours ago, Grey Cloud said: This mod is updated fairly regularly with the last update in March. I've used it since LE days and get on well with it. Fair point! Indeed I saw it was updated. I just don't like the items + with Skyrimnet, because the enemies are generic, it causes some issues, which I don't have with other mods that also add generics. leading me to the conclusion that it's not super well coded. But you are right, perhaps I should give it another try. The enemies are quite good, though a bit hard to kill at times, especially the rieklings. 2 hours ago, Grey Cloud said: MINPCs Yes I have that one! Excellent mod. 2 hours ago, Grey Cloud said: High Level Enemies Seems like this adds tougher enemies. Not necessarily what I'm looking for, rather variety. 2 hours ago, traison said: So you got a mod to make everyone friendly, then want another mod to add more enemies because everyone being friendly turned out to be boring. I suppose you're looking for some demonic stuff? Valid point. Let me explain the logic. It's all because of AI. AI adds an unimaginable depth to RP. But the bread and butter is, you need people to talk to. So you have your usual Serena, your jarl, your merchants. But bandits, necromancers, etc. that populate vanilla Skyrim: they all turn hostile when you meet them because vanilla gameplay. A bit sad, I always wanted to chat with necromancers and get a tour of their facilities. Here comes Peaceful living: makes most humanoid non hostile: so now I can hang out with more evil NPCs (the other half of the vanilla game), make friends, romance etc. But then it's a video game right? So I need a bit more enemies here and there, still. Not just a WHOLE faction who auto agros me, but SOME that attack me. Because with PL I only have 2 wolves and 1 snow troll attacking me, most of the places feel very peaceful, a bit like Japan. 2 hours ago, traison said: What went wrong in the year 2020 to invalidate pre-2020 mods? I've just noticed that in the last 5Y or so, a lot of new Skyrim modding tech has been discovered and many mods have been made irrelevant. Just want to provide a cutoff period so I don't get the super old mod that overwrites records, that is not ESL-flagged, whatever. 2 hours ago, traison said: Finished mods do not qualify, has to be WIP? I want to avoid the one-shot mod from 2016 where the guy had a great ambition, posted, then good bye. I can tell now that I have tracking enabled that some mod developers are really super active and make patches at least once a month, like Pale gore, which is what I'm looking for.
Grey Cloud Posted May 1 Posted May 1 There's a mod here on LL called Manipulator. It's a dandy little utility mod which I've been using since 2016. One of the things it does is allow you to diddle with factions, i.e. choose which are friendly, neutral or hostile. Shagging you way through a friendly draugr infested dungeon with your twenty-thirty followers can be a hoot, if somwhat time consuming. 🙄 The downside: Skyrim factions operate on the principle of "the enemy of my friend is my enemy". You can make one faction hostile and suddenly half a dozen other factions are hostile because they are friends with first faction. That can be character-building. 😐 There's a mod named "At One With Nature" which let's you diddle with animal factions. Never used it myself. 3 hours ago, Fraying9981 said: though a bit hard to kill at times, especially the rieklings. Those poison spears are way OTT. Gleipnir can be a handful even with my horde of followers.
