Here the logs and load order I'm running.

crash-2026-04-16-20-29-36.log

Papyrus.0.log

Plugins.txt

I know I'm running quite a few heavy mods at the same time but for now it works quite well.

The crash occurs in chillwind depths, I went there to rescue Raka from Damsels in Distress

It happens precisely the moment I cross the first room with the two spiders that drop down from the ceiling.

I have honestly no clue as to why this happens, from multiple tests I tried disabling AnimalResearch, Overlay fixes, sometimes the crash log points to !MaidensOfDarkness, tried resetting SMP but it still keeps crashing in the exact same spot.

On a previous save I had a freeze when entering Embershard Mine but I am pretty sure that one happened because Captive Followers captured a follower and sent them there even though two other mods already occupied that spot, probably Yuriana or some other wench mod. This time Captive Followers is not the issue since there is no captive sent there.

Please help as for the time I have to avoid that location and hope I don't get sent there from one of the defeat mods...

If I remember correctly, no one has discovered a fix for this crash.

Trying to find the other threads on Google...

Edit: Same issue as here (seems to have solution).

So at least it's a common crash and I am not going insane trying to find a single mod like a needle in a haystack.

Thank you for the help although the link you provided seems like it's because of an NPC and my crash seems to be because something tries to affect player character the moment I set even one foot beyond the treshold in that one specific spot in Chillwind Depths. I haven't yet tried to TFC and look whether there is anything that's trying to apply an effect to me.

We're all Actors (ACHR), i.e. instances of NPC_ records. Player, NPC, makes no difference.

The key takeaway from that thread I linked to is that you're most likely looking for an effect of some kind. But I imagine that's hardly useful at all.

The thing you're looking for has a BSTriShape. That might cut down on the options a tiny bit. It also has a BSParticleShaderSnowEmitter, which I do not know what is, but an emitter is something that spawns particles - a firepit is one or multiple emitters. Perhaps this is a snowy wind gust with snow particles. It may also in some way have interacted with your player character. Maybe this was a physics collision (i.e. perhaps this was a cold breath effect, or a footstep snow puff) or it was simply a distance or LOS calculation.

Thank you for the help. It might be tied to the spore particles in chillwind depths maybe these are trying to interact with player character and stumbling on some missing bone or something. Next time I'm close by I'll have to check it out again.
