Hiryuu Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 So I decided to finally start the companions with a character at +150 hours only to find that Aela has the black face bug. I hit Google and find out that sometimes NPC edits don't export the right files so I go to the CK and do the ctrl+F4 thing described in 95% of the related threads. Got the files exported and start up the game just to find same old dark face no warpaint Aela. So while I wait for better Google search terms or a stroke of genius to solve my problem I start up a new character just to play around with shield which I've never done despite over 900 hours of Skyrim-time. Lo and behold as I enter Whiterun for the first time: there is Aela looking just as she should. I immediately load up my main character and fast travel to Whiterun just to find Aela with a black face. Back to character 2 and Aela looks just fine. So in short, Aela from Bijin warmaidens works fine in new characters but looks horrible in old main save. Please someone help me clean out the dirty reference from my main save or whatever it is thats messing with me. Load order and pics in attachment
Ark of Truth Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Looks like FaceGenData has not been exported.
Hiryuu Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Looks like FaceGenData has not been exported. If that was the case, wouldn't it look wrong in the other save?
Uriel Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Uhh.. does she have an breast enlargement on her in the old save? Go into her inventory, remove stuff except her regular items. Save. Exit game. Load save.

Exit game. Load save. No she has on the same gear in both screens, just different perspective. But I still tried your suggestion and took of her ancient nordic armor, saved, shut skyrim down, restarted and loaded up the new save. Still black face.
Guest Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 If you are using some mod that modifies Aela, try to put that mod's esp after UFO. Just my opinion, please tell me if that works.
Hiryuu Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 If you are using some mod that modifies Aela, try to put that mod's esp after UFO. Just my opinion, please tell me if that works. Well for starters I don't use UFO, I use AFT. But I tried putting Aela.esp after AFT and that changed nothing. Still black in my main save and right face and paint in the new save.
Uriel Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 What i thought is in the old save some mod is running on Aela, modifying her weight dynamically or updating her somehow else. Change forces Skyrim to remove her cute pregenerated head from Bijin with the fugly one generated from her NPC record. Otherwise, i have no idea. BTW, you can use MFGconsole to check magic effects and scripts running on her.

How do i use mfg, uesp wiki isn't that helpful and just typing it into the console yields no result.
Guest Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Hiryuu, with the new SkyUi, just press "~" and click on Aela. They will show you which esm/esp last modifies her, and possibly scripts that are running on her (this I'm not sure about).

Skyrim stores a lot of things inside game save. Your "old" Aela has some info stored in game save from before you changed her face. If you would "create" another Aela (with console command player.placeatme), new Aela would be fine. Or, as you did, start new game. In theory you could (with console) create new Aela and delete old one. It would work (well should, you can never be sure with Skyrim), but theres a high chance some quests would break. I did this trick once, but it was Camila (that chick from Riverwood) after I did quests where she plays a role.

How do i use mfg, uesp wiki isn't that helpful and just typing it into the console yields no result. MFGconsole Install, load game, open console while your ugly aela is on the screen. Click her, check in the bottom left that you actually selected her, not some other thing(happens a lot, i try to kill some land because of this sometimes). Then open activeeffects, spells, equipments with mouseover&Lshift. Then, take screenshots of those lists i think..

Okay, so mfg tells me that she has two active effects, resist frost and "dual sheat redux"s shield on back. Other than that Aela.esp is the last esp to modify her. I took some screens of the different lists. So I decided to finally start the companions with a character at +150 hours only to find that Aela has the black face bug. Uriel Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I run a search on Bijin Warmaidens forum thread, and found a lot of such issues. Looks like Aela is somehow special. People say that if you start her quest line and then install Bijin, you will still get an vanilla faced Aela somehow. Maybe a save editor of a kind can help here? I dunno, never had an experience with such an issue. If you're going to try save edit, BACKUP YOUR SAVE a gazillion times.
gvman3670 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Aela's a special character. Some mods you can't even add until after the Companiona' quests are done because you'll break her. Even takin her as a follower usually breaks the Hircine's Totems quest. She's extremely easy to break.

Is there a save editor that does this kind of things, I've ever only seen stat modders and gold adders.
Uriel Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I've only found TESV ESS Files Editor, i think there was more to it though. There should be a one NPC_ record and one ACHR record. No idea what you need to change actually. Maybe, you can simply delete them. Also, you might want to complete Aela's quest line before doing this. Otherwise, things can get uglyer then even a vanilla Aela.

judge0 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Just for fun . . . http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15411/? install just the download marked "Color Mismatch fix for Humans and Bretons" Then load your save and see. If Irilith also has that, use the one for elves too . . .

If Irilith also has that, use the one for elves too . . . That doesn't make sense since I'm not using the overhaul and as I said before it only affects Aela and only in the old save. But never the less I tried it by finding Aelas nif and dds and replacing the ones I had. But it did not help. Still hoping there is some console fix for this.
judge0 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Was worth a try. Either something has modified the NPC (black face bug), or textures have been replaced for the body without the head textures also being replaced (or head without body). If you don't mind the NPCs having Apachii hair you could install ApachiiHairstylesforNPCs (the mod the Color Mismatch files came from), and the Color Mismatch fixes from it.

Thank you for trying but I don't really think that changing out textures are gonna help here since it works fine in a new game. It's something in the stored information of the save itself I think.
Uriel Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Give me your old save. I'll try to screw it completely with essedit xD
Hiryuu Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Give me your old save. I'll try to screw it completely with essedit xD Let me know what else you need. Added skse save file, which frankly I do not know what it does. For your information I haven't done anything with the companions in this save, if it matters.
Uriel Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Here's the first screwed save xD Backup yours!! If your Aela suddenly gets a plastic surgery, don't play this save too much. I changed multiple things at once in this one, we'll need to find the one that helped.
