Hey asdt123123,

Can You confirm that SMP cloaks/capes will tank FPS by 20-40 FPS in areas like Solitude.

According to Google AI it is known that Artesian Capes aka Cloaks of Skyrim SMP will tank FPS if used on all in the world.

From reading on the mod site plenty seems to have big FPS loss with the cloaks.

Even on a Intel I9-13900K CPU set to AVX2.

Will upgrading to FSMP 3.0 have an effect on these FPS drops?

If you're using VR skyrim, avoid FSMP 3.0 until my vr fix is published. Otherwise, yeah it's significantly faster.

Cloaks are heavy because the author used the original body mesh with ~30k+ poly for the collision shape. If you simplify the collision body it'll use little to no resources.

I just re-did the wind too, so it's more like that other mod.

So for now I will just remove them from ordinary guards and bandits and only have them on important high station characters for immersion.

Alternatively I could adjust FSMP to only simulate nearby NPC's. Others have said that could help.

Edit.: Removing 5 cloaks in Solitude and about 10 in Whiterun. It's like night and day. Might not have gained a lot of FPS. But Stutters are gone.

You can try opening the plugin in editor and removing Intelligence from Masters list. Hope that helps.

Any chance we ever get more features for Flex? Mainly the ones that enable SMP head

Doubt it. That mod is closed source and seemingly abandoned.

I don't know why reason to use it over the newer versions of FSMP either unless you want bugs. Do you have any compelling reasons to use Flex at this point with FSMP being actively maintained?

My ancient rig still performs better on Flex, usually not by that much tho. Was mainly asking because latest Lorerim is using Flex. but no shot that swapping to FSMP somehow breaks the list so i'll just do that.

Appreciate the clarification!

It may just be using cheaper default settings. Like setting the sub steps to 1, and solve iterations to ~8.

FSMP (AVX2 version) should be faster in all areas. The whole system was essentially re-coded for maximum performance, with zero quality loss (Actually collision quality was significantly improved). Fully utilizes your CPU now too

If you have trouble running 60 fps, that's where FSMP might perform worse due to having to run the simulation multiple times in 1 frame. That's where the maxSubSteps option helps.
