help with load order / CTD on fast travel? :/

Hi there, sorry if this is the wrong forum. I wasn't sure, first time posting. But you all seem very nice so hopefully I can find some help here, as I'm desperate. For about a week I've been working with BOSS, tes4edit, wrye, and OBMM to try to set up a heavily modded working Oblivion. I am a novice and know nothing about programming, but I'm doing my best to follow directions.

 

Unfortunately while everything else seems fine, I can't fast travel. (I have a mod called No Fast Travel which I have disabled to test this issue.)

Welcome to the forum.

 

Well, I don't spot any real problems with your load order right off and I am assuming you used BOSS to sort it, right?

 

As to your no fast travel mod....you say you have disabled it. To completely get rid of it you need to rebuild your bashed patch (it might be in there) and make a clean save or start a new game (as mods/settings can get hung up in saved game).

 

Try those things out and holler back if you still have problems.

Oh, sorry. I don't post on a lot of forums, I don't really know all the commands and stuff. I guess I should've read your forum rules. My bad. But yeah I definitely rebuilt the bashed patch every time I uninstalled something. I guess I just have too many mods, heh.

Not sure what type of system you have, but I do see some heavy stuff in your load list. RAEVWD alone can cause a massive impact (I know, I'm using it as well). Above that I see a lot of better cities, etc mods. Having to load all of that stuff may well be too much to handle, depending on your system specs. Streamline and Oblivion Stutter Remover may help reduce the impact.

It's not your PC. Oblivion simply wasn't optimized well by Bethesda. Hell, the game only uses 2GB of RAM max! So all that memory you installed is just sitting there looking pretty. The most you can do is install a 4GB patch for Oblivion and even then it doesn't seem to help that much if you have too many mods.

 

Just a couple of suggestions and forgive me if you've already done them, but I would install the Unofficial Oblivion Patches as well as disable the auto-save feature ingame.

The auto-save thing is a good idea, and one I've used before on a previous install. It prevents the CTD that happens when you FIRST hit fast-travel. This problem I'm having right now, though, happens midway through the loading bar, so it hasn't helped. I do have all of the unofficial patches, including USIP, UOMP, etc. Not sure why they're not showing up on the list.

 

I will try the 4gb patch thing, though, if I can find a link to it. I have a feeling I'm going to need a clean install though. I really appreciate everybody's help, you guys sure are nice.

They won't show up on the list because you used OBMM to get your load order and it will only show active mods. The other mods have been merged into your bashed patch and disabled. This is a normal thing and nothing to be at all worried about. However it can lead to problems figuring out how to help you as you may have multiple mods tucked into your bashed patch that we can't see.

 

To post your entire load order using wrye select the mods tab, then choose list mods (You'll get this menu by right-clicking on the header of the mods list.)

Note: This displays list of currently active mods and copies that same list to the clipboard which you can then post here.

 

One thing note is that you do not need to install UOP if you are running OOO as the bug fixes and changes are already built into OOO. It won't hurt you to have them but it isn't helping anything either.
