Redglare1 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Much like the title says, my game is continuously crashing to desktop as I attempt to build up SexLab for the first time. Help would be appreciated! ❤️ crash-2026-02-01-06-07-01.log
plutocene Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Are you missing SSE Engine Fixes https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17230? Doesn't have to be related but thats the first thing I would install. Also, verify your Sexlab dependencies.
traison Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) This crash looks like it came from Papyrus. It crashed because of a null pointer dereference. sslSystemConfig.CheckSystemPart() was calling fnis.VersionCompare() which is having trouble calling FNISCreatureVersion.Get(). So: Make sure FNISCreatureVersion.pex exists and is provided by the official FNIS creature pack mod. Make sure FNIS.pex exists and is provided by the official FNIS mod. Make sure sslSystemConfig is provided by the official SL mod, and not P+ (or similar). Also like plutocene (sort of) said, you're missing SSE Engine Fixes. Edited February 1 by traison
Redglare1 Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 Hi everyone! Thanks for the replies they've been quite helpful. In regards to what traison said, I have indeed been able to find the files "FNIS.pex" and "FNISCreatureVersion.pex" but they are loose files in my script folder, so I don't know exactly if they came from the base FNIS. As for number 3), "sslSystemConfig" is almost certainly being provided correctly as it's root is in the folder "SexLabframeworkAE" I will now attempt to redownload SSE Engine fixes as well; as I believe I had it downloaded on my Vortex profile, but then failed to or forgot to add it back to my MO2 profile. Doing that now. Thanks again!
Redglare1 Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 Update: I installed SSE Engine Fixes, and even managed to stop LOOT from saying that it has missing files (I am using MO2 for context), nothing seems to have changed. I also use Pandora for my animation manager, and I know for a fact that you are supposed to open up FNIS before opening up Sexlab to generate. However, I have already run Pandora multiple times. I was always under the assumption that opening FNIS is dangerous to the game files while using Pandora. Is the fix truly just to generate FNIS.exe? I am also dropping the latest crash log as well. crash-2026-02-01-16-44-02.log

You don't need FNIS if you are using Pandora. You don't have to do anything with FNIS in order to install SLAF even if you are using FNIS rather than Pandora. Edited February 1 by Grey Cloud

Bummer now I'm even more lost on what to do. I correctly installed SSE Engine Fixes, but that didn't stop the CTD.

They both write the same files, so whichever ran last is the one that's going to be used. Running both is pointless. Having both has it's uses though. 4 minutes ago, Grey Cloud said: You don't need FNIS if you are using Pandora. Technically correct, but a lot of people have a broken XPMSE install when using Pandora because Pandora is missing all FNIS scripts. FNIS is also great for debugging issues in Pandora, of which there seems to still be a lot unfortunately. 20 minutes ago, Redglare1 said: I have already run Pandora multiple times. FNIS' behaviour files has nothing to do with these crash logs from what I can tell. 22 minutes ago, Redglare1 said: I am also dropping the latest crash log as well. This is a different problem from the first log you posted, but it's still pointing at there being a problem with fniscreatureversion.pex. 1 hour ago, Redglare1 said: In regards to what traison said, I have indeed been able to find the files "FNIS.pex" and "FNISCreatureVersion.pex" but they are loose files in my script folder, so I don't know exactly if they came from the base FNIS. Time for a reinstall then. Ideally you shouldn't have any stray files hanging around in the Data folder that wasn't put there by your mod manager. There must always be a trace back to which mod a file came from, otherwise debugging gets difficult real quick.
Redglare1 Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 Thanks for the extensive reply! I have a lot to troubleshoot now when I get home from work :3

I ended up tracing my steps back and it seems like I didn't install FNIS creature pack correctly. Plugged it into my MO2 folder and It *seems* that SexLab was able to be installed successfully in game!! Thanks everyone, hopefully my computer doesn't decide to explode before I get back :3 Edited February 1 by Redglare1
