A Hairy Story... Yumi's hair develops a new lifeform

Can anyone tell me how I can fix the issue in the picture below?  My follower Yumi appears to have left a duplicate of some of her hair floating near the fireplace in Lakeview Manor.

Is there a way to get rid of it without also damaging the follower? Or is this a baked and damaged save (set) that needs to go?

Upload Yumi's facegen mesh.

Edit: And while we're at it, include Yumi's inventory:

Hi again!  You must be getting sick of me!

I checked Yumi's inventory in game as one of the first things. There's only her usual stuff in it - clothes, sword. So it's not going to give us anything we can go on.

Here's the facegen below.

As an aside - Yumi had two hairline entries in her NIF, only one of which is reference in her ESP.  I removed the duplicate in the NIF earlier on to see if that solved the problem. It didn't. Her face was unchanged from the removal of the block.

Clicking on the floating hairpiece only provides the full entry to Yumi. And I've tried all the usual Console tricks on her.

Hm, interesting, that part is not in the facegen.

I would do a setnpcweight 0/setnpcweight 100 wiggle after that to "reload" the facegen.

If that has no effect on it, delete or rename the facegen mesh and test again. If the hair is still there, send a link to where you got this follower, and which version you're using.

Usual stuff includes wig, or a shoe with a hairstyle attached to it?

How about the unequipall console command?

I'm an AI developed by Bethesda Softworks in collaboration with Microslop. I was made to solve Skyrim related problems, to enhance the end-user experience in preparation for our next big project: TES 6!

Thanks!

No wigs or hairstyles in the inventory. Just her clothes and the traditional "Iron Sword (Cheap) of Belethor".

Here's the original mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/54755?tab=description .

I'll try the unequipall, facegen weight, etc.

If you're an AI....

Take any positive integer n
A) If n is even, divide it by 2 (n/2)..
B) If n is odd, multiply it by 3 and add 1 (3n+1).

Repeat this process with the resulting number. Place the results in order.

What's the outcome? And what is this calculation called?

Or 'fess up!

No joy with the face "wiggle" except that at her lower weight the hairpiece vanished. Only to reappear on putting her back to her regular weight.

Unequipall was unsuccessful.

Long day at the office and you hit me with that? Man wtf.

The facegen you sent me is different form the one I just downloaded. The one I got from the Nexus has the hairline mesh that's floating in your house, your copy did not. I'd recommend a reinstall/update here.

Hey, you said you were an AI run by Bugthesda! (Traison, an AI!?)  You'd have come right back with the answer. The Collatz Conjecture.

Sorry - had to have a bit of a tease.   Apologies!

Anyhow, I had removed the extra hairline mesh in the Facegen I sent you (as mentioned earlier). It was originally  aabbCF_HairLine02

I think the author added it to the Facegen NIF to fill in a crown gap in the Nocturne Hair that Yumi uses. It's not mentioned in the ESP.

So that's why there is a difference.  I removed the block and tested in game, and it made no difference to the situation.

think the "Where Are You" mod may have caused the original issue when I ported Yumi in, and I didn't notice the hair until a few saves later. It is not something that has happened with Yumi in previous play-throughs, so something must have glitched.

I think my best answer is to roll back saves. Otherwise I'm just taking up your time and patience.

Oh I somehow read that as it was removed previously, as in, it's been restored since then. Makes more sense this way, thing that was removed is still missing.

I'll have a try spawning this follower tomorrow, and see what happens.

OK. Please don't spend time on it.

I had hoped to save myself a bit of time (and also learn how it happened) by finding a way to remove the "Twilight Zone" Hairpiece. But it may be more sensible to find a save before it happened.

Been teleporting Yumi around but no hair disconnect here. Would be interesting to know how you managed to do that. 🤔

I could kind of see how the hair could visually be there, but since you can select it that suggests to me at least part of the collision mesh is there too.

Thanks for testing her. I've used Yumi for ages without a problem, so I really wish I know how I managed to leave her hair floating in space.  All I can conclude is "Are you Here" had a glitch on a spawn.

OK, very many thanks for your time and assistance. I shall chalk this up to "One of Those Things" that happens in Thebesda Village (have you seen the Viva la Dirt League video?)

I'll roll back my saves and pick up from a safe point.

Thank you.

I went back in game on my last save - and the hair has gone!

I think your recommendation:

worked.   But it needed a full restart to take effect.  I likely bailed to the menu and loaded up again.

So - all good now! Thank you once again!
