No ZadMain Quest - incomplete download archives?

Having tested _numerous_ version combinations, I can't get beyond crippled installations of SexLab and Devious Devices. I do get MCM entries for Devious Devices (but neither DD integration oder DD equip), SexLab, SexLabUtil1 and also SexLab Aroused, but many functions don't work.

(Skyrim 1.6.640, SKSE 2.2.3, latest configuration:

DD SE 5.2,  DD NG 0.4.1.7 (incl. Devious Devices - Integration.esm + other plugins), DDa-3,0, Devious Devices - Equip 6.33.3.AE (2 esp plugins: Equip and Equip NG Extras),

SexLab-1.65, SexLabUtil1_0_20_SE_fomod,

ZAZ 7.0SE-Rev1

and many more:-)

Upon load of any Save I get the message

"An error has occurred with your installation of Devious Devices. Please check the log for more information. Error Text: Animation registration failed: FilterQuest is none."

Checking all of the suspect logfiles, I find no error or warning whatsoever. After much experimenting and consulting Gemini and ChatGPT I receive numerous answers that I need a script "ZadMainQuestScript" plus the contained function. Upon 'help "ZAD" ' I receive countless hits including loads of keywords and dials, and also many quests, but _no_ MaiQuest. I have examined the file contents of all relating download archives that I could make out on LoversLab and GitHub, but to no avail: although, e.g.,  the available 2-GByte-archive Devious Devices SE contains numerous zad scripts, there isn't anything pointing only vagely to zadMainQuest.

Can please anybody tell me iwhere to find an archive conmtaining _all_ required scripts, or tell me how I can get around without that dratted function?

Yo. However you got the idea that DDa 3.0 might be needed - it's ancient and included in the DD 5.2 (and DD NG) download. Didn't even know it ever existed for SE.

DD 5.2/NG comes with 4 esp's which all need to be active, one of them is the curent version of DDa.

DD Equip is a completely different mod and not part of the DD framework. You can use that, if you want, but first get the framework up and running.

For DD NG 0.4.xx you need to install DD SE 5.2 first, then DD NG (let it win every conflict, overwrite, however that's called in your mod manager), and not start the game in between. Start a new game, wait a bit for all those initialisations to work, save, exit to desktop, resume. Otherwise the DD framework doesn't even load.

Make a hard save to which you can come back later (no need to setup every MCM if DDs don't work) go into the world (Mara statue, leave the Skyrim Unbound anteroom, whatever) grab some DD items via AddItemMenu or QUI, test if they equip and unequip (or stay locked) and look how they should. Many people have Bodyslide issues, go to any DD thread for solutions.

If all that works, quit and resume from your hard save (no, don't load that from ingame) and resume with your setup for all those mods. If things don't work, start debugging in earnest.

Thank You _very_much _ for Your explanations. I learned that DDa-3.0 mod is obsolete, but this didn't solve my problem. Perhaps my description wasn't sufficiently precise: As You explained it, I probably shouldn't complain about Devious Devices: At least I can and already could equip items directly from the inventory, and they are properly rendered.  Instead I should emphasize Devious Devices Equip and a more complete installation of SexLab. I still can't comfortably manage (un)equipment of devious devices, and numerous mods depending on DD and Sexlab won't come to work. As mentioned, I suspect this to correlate with a missing function ZadMainQuest. Where can I get this?
